Laugh? I thought I'd never get dry!
It appears, from a brief perusal of the HBC website ( I like to keep an eye on them-Just in case..) that our woefully out-of-touch councillors have decided on yet another scheme to demonstrate their estrangement from reality.
They have, in their municipal wisdom, decided to enter Mercer Park and Oak Hill Park in the national Green Flag Scheme which is awarded for excellence in public open spaces. http://www.hyndburnbc.gov.uk/Your_Co...pen_spaces.asp What a sad and telling indictment of their neglect and mismanagement it is that, even by their own estimation, only two of the borough's eleven parks come anywhere near the standard required for entry into the competition. |

You can be sure that Milnshaw park would not get a mention. Have you had a walk around there recently. It's a disgrace, glass all over, and vandals have ripped up the childrens play area.

Re: Laugh? I thought I'd never get dry!
Considering that Milnshaw is the oldest public park in Accrington if not the borough I think that the state of neglect there is little short of Criminal!

Re: Laugh? I thought I'd never get dry!
Funnily enough, dog poo is one of the things that the judges are on the look-out for. Is it worth taking bets on whether either park will win a green flag?
