live 8, e-bay :)

Go on e-bay now and search for live 8 tickets........

Just look at that bidding :) Some over 10 million pounds :)

Dare ya too set up e-bay account under name of Bob Geldoff and offer 20 million for every ticket :) you will be on the news for sure ;)

This is an obvious attempt to spoil the sale of these tickets from greedy ticket winners ........

Saw one earlier Simes for £1500.00. Serves the greedy swines right if they get the michael taken out of em for ripping off a charity gig. Even if Geldof gets up your nose there is no reason for this other than pure selfish greed. A bit like childline betting on Michael Jackson being found not guilty on all charges innit!

S'nice, more money for the lil children. ;)

Higher you bid the more they'll get.

Give a child a ticket they'll go to a concert, give a child a 20 million pound seat and they'll live like a lil Prince.

We wanted to let you know that we will be permitting the sale of LIVE 8 concert tickets on eBay.co.uk. As we do not wish to profit from this event, we have offered to make a donation to the LIVE 8 charity at least equivalent to the fees we collect from the sale of LIVE 8 tickets. We are allowing the sale of tickets because we believe that people can make up their own minds about what they buy and sell. The reselling of charity concert tickets is not illegal under English law and eBay believes it is a fundamental right for someone to be able to sell something that is theirs whether they paid for it or won it in a competition.

Regards,
The eBay.co.uk Team

Might not be illegal Neil but its still immoral to profit from a charity. Still some have no consciences do they. Maybe Ebay could make it a policy that if tickets sell at a profit a percentage has to go back to the charity? No pay up no sale of ticket. Or make em sit & watch the videos of the starving kids they have taken the food out of the mouths of.

Have you noticed that a lot of those bids have zero feedback? Would it be poetic justice if the winning bidder simply didn't pay and did a bunk never to be heard of on ebay again?

Here's an interesting one CLICK ,particularly this quote"Live 8 organisers said eBay had been "very helpful", adding the concert's lawyers would take action against anyone trying to sell tickets"

Re: live 8, e-bay :)

Things have taken an interesting turn now. EBay has removed all the Live8 non-auctions that were encouraging people to sabotage the auctions for tickets. I wonder how they will treat the inflated bids when sellers complain that they haven't been paid?

How do you work that one out?
The tickets where free except for the £1.50 per text when bidding, if a person got one and then wants to sell what is the problem no one loses any money.

agree with bagpuss on this,i thought the idea was the texts £1-50 x millions, gives a great return, and the people who won tickets were asked/expected to make donations to the charity,i would think theres more chance of that happening through the people that bid @win tickets, than through the moneygrabbing sods that are selling them.

In fact charities will gain money as some of those who have sold them have said they will give part of the proceeds to charity and eBay itself is giving the fees incurred by those auctions so in fact the sale of those tickets hurts no-one and actually benefits people. Those who want to go and can afford to buy tickets get to go, and charity gets some money and those of us who can't afford to buy them are no worse off than before or if they had never been on sale anyway. I don't see a problem.

Lots of people will be making money from this charity.

This is in the rules:

Make sure you put a figure you would be happy paying as once you have bid, you are entering into a contract with the seller.

I believe ebay to be wrong for removing the auctions. Instead they should be
tracing the fake buyers and assisting the sellers. I don't think for one minute that the sellers won't sell the tickets now. They have the names of the genuine bibbers so can contact them via email.

WillowTheWhisp 15-06-2005 09:10

Re: live 8, e-bay :)

Originally they had just removed the fake auctions which weren't selling anything but just encouraging people to put in false bids.

I agree with you Neil. They should not have removed the genuine auctions, just the false bids and have helped the genuine sellers. It looks now like they have bowed to pressure from the bullies.

Bob Geldof will be making money out of it which makes him a bit of a hypocrite for sounding off about the ticket sellers. Serve them right now if there are lots of empty seats.

This issue has just been on the news here! Bob Geldof having a right old moan about people profiteering from his ways and a general bad report on the way ebay have handled things... Strange for the russians to pay any attention to things like charity! :)
