Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Grrrrr!
I am fuming!!!   Today is wheelie bin day. HBC request that I do not leave my bin in the back street because it causes an obstruction for the bin wagon. They request that I leave the bin in the backyard doorway with the door/gate open and the handle facing outwards. They usually come round about this time of morning but sometimes they come a little earlier and have been known to be there when I'm in the shower so to make sure my bin isn't missed I've been putting it "out" the night before. Last night it was put in the doorway as usual. This morning it looked like they'd been early as it was back in the yard and the door closed - but on investigation it was still full! The rubbish hadn't gone but Busman's bike had! Even though it was padlocked! Some thieving swine had availed themselves of the opportunity of an open door and pushed the bin back into the yard to come in and help themselves to whatever thy could find. My first reaction was "I hope their hands drop off" Maybe they'll slip with the hacksaw when they are trying to saw off the chain. It's quite a hefty chain. Unfortunately someone also foolishly left the shed key in the shed door and they've helped themselves to that so we will be replacing the lock today as they shed isn't just a shed but also my utility room. Busman has also made mention of electrical connections so that when they try to put the (metal) key into the new lock they will get a bit of a shock. I realise that we'd probably get done for grievous bodily harm or something but the way I feel at the moment I'd get done for more than that if I got my hands on who ever it is! Anyway from now on the wheelie bin goes outside in the backstreet obstruction or no obstruction. Of course that will probably get nicked next. Tough on crime Mr Blair? Don't make me laugh. I shall be reporting the theft but don't hold out any hope of the bike being recovered or the thief being caught. Even if they were they'd just get sent on an adventure holiday or something the poor little deprived so and so. Yes folks I do believe this is yet another consequence of children not being brought up to know the difference between right and wrong and having no conscience and no respect for other people's property. They are probably also on drugs and will have either sold the bike by now or dumped it when they realise they can't get the chain off. If anyone sees a blue bike lying around can you please check if it has a chain on and if it has it's probably Busman's |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
LIttle bastards! Sorry to hear about this Willow - I'll keep my eyes open in case the bike appears in my neck of the woods.
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
I feel for you Willow! What makes this situation even worse is that a portion of the blame can certainly be pointed towards HBC - but still there isn't anything you can do about it! :(
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
One thing I will be doing is putting the wheelie bin in the back street next week obstruction or not!
Thanks Pixie. I don't hold out much hope of it turning up but you never know. |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Thats terrible. Which neck of the woods are you in so that i can be on the look-out too. I would certainly lodge a complaint with the council but no doubt it will fall on deaf ears !
Can you claim on your house insurance for it. Chrissie  |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Bad Luck Willow.....But unfortunately its a sign of the times and our deteriorating society.
You try your best to fulfil the everyday requirements and somebody comes along and nicks your (Busmans) bike!! What's worse is, if they catch the culprit....they wouldn't even get a slapped wrist. You canread the Evening Telegraph and every week there's a story of somebody who has been let-off even though they've had 20, 30, 40 or even 50 previous offences. That's no deterrant...put money into education they say is the answer....put the fear of god into them....that's the answer. Commiserations........ |

That's terrible Willow, and I would certainly be putting my wheelie bin in the back alley from now on if I was in your situation. I'll keep an eye open for the bike.
Hmmm, I wonder if it has been added to the Meadow St rubbish tip overnight..:) |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Sorry to hear busmans bike has gone. If your taken to court for causing an obstruction let us know, we'll be there with placards to protest your innocence.;)
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
sorry to hear about the theft of the bike,as far as i'm concerned, sod the council i would do exactly the same and leave it outside willow, will keep a look out. p.s. i would certainly check with my insurance seems to me like hbc is more to blame than anyone, costs nowt to check!!
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
i dont think insurance will pay out because you left your gate open or unlocked which invalidates your insurance
dont tell them you left the gate open say they climbed over the wall this is why terraced houses have bin holes so you dont have to leave your gate open although most people have blocked them up now and even if you had them still wheelie bins dont fit |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
I wonder how CAB would see this. After all, HBC by giving you clear instructions to leave your door open may actually be responsible for any damage/loss caused by this action.
It is a shame that you can't leave it open anymore though. I'll kepp an eye open for a blue bike although it has probably already been painted. Ian |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Hmm, just discovered they also broke the security light, presumably in an attempt to stop it shining. Faithfully it continued to shine even though it is now dangling and has had to have the power temporarily cut off. Maybe they'd have taken more but for that.

Bring in Sharia Law I say (PC or not).
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
I hope you have contacted HBC and blamed them for instructing you to leave it open. Did they send you a letter asking you to leave the gate open. If so I would visit a solicitor and see what they say. Everyone in your area probably got told to leave the gates open so everyone knows which night/day all the gates are open. Well done HBC.

Heaven help them if they try to come back for anything else! :D Yep there's a lot to be said for Sharia Law Margaret. Not long ago some friends of ours had their camper van stolen and they even know who took it but can't prove it so nothing can be done. |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
The HBC are such a waste of time aren't they...

Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
No, I have nothing in writing from HBC. It was all word of mouth so not much I can do there, unless they complain next time when I put the bin in the back.and then I'll see if they'll put that in writing. Other people further down put their bin in the back but just where I am on the bend it gets in the way apparently, so I'll compromise and put it slightly further down and see how they like it.

Don't worry Neil. The shocks will not be of an electrical nature. :D and although I'm beginning to feel a kinship with Tony Martin I wouldn't actually consider shooting them as much as I might feel they deserve it.

Sorry to hear about your loss Willow. I'm afraid if I was instructed by HBC to leave my back gate open I would ignore them, as anybody living in terraced property should do after learning of your predicament. Again, deepest regrets. T.C.

Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Thievin sods  I will keep my eyes open to Willow. Sad fact is that I seem to be keeping my eye open for more and more stolen bikes and motorbikes round here at the moment, it's probably the same people nicking them all too!
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
I would be seriously tempted to have a walk around Fern Gore estate. I lived up there for many years and its surprising just how many stolen items was fenced off in that area.
Sorry if any decent people from that area post on here, i am not calling you all, just the minority. Chrissie |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Sorry to hear the news Willlow;I am amazed more stuff doesn't go "missing" when people are told to leave their yard gates open for the Council to collect fridges, cookers etc.Esp since the waiting list is now 6 weeks!
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
wonder if the thieving git is reading this website ,,,,,,,,,,,,,hope he/she goes under a bus on that bike.....oops perhaps i shouldent have said that...sorry willow
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Sorry to hear about what happened Willow, Have you got more detail about the bike any other colours, any writting on it any lights on it? I dont think i will see the bike down here in Preston but it might help those in Accy to spot it better.
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Sorry to hear of this Willow,on a cautionary note beware of a return visit. This sometimes happens after people have replaced articles that have been stolen!
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
What happens if you have dogs in your back yard and perhaps work shifts

Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
I don't think you can get HBC for anything, because the duty of care doesn't extend that far. I won't leave the back gate open, even if it means HBC can't collect my bin. We have a good neighbour who does see to the bin for us, but I do worry about the gate being left unlocked.
If you do get a dog in the backyard, be sure you put up a notice, otherwise you will be liable if some little toerag gets savaged whilst breaking in! You could try getting one of those gadgets that fit on a door handle, and when the handle is tried, all hell breaks loose in the form of barking from what sounds like a very large dog. Why not have Busman in the yard from time to time - it sounds as though he would happily savage any intruders! I'll be happy to hold his coat. |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
graham where are you? would love a council response to this problem.
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Never mind Graham, where the flippin eck is Anne Scaife? I'll bet she is not as reticent when it comes to drawing her allowances. And, for that matter, where is our resident Crime Czar and his faithful sidekick?
Have you reported the theft to the Police, Willow? |
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
i got my bike stolen from my old houses terraced back garden a few years back so after huntuing up and down for it after about 3 hours we went to the police station thinking that would be the last place it would be but apparently they have now learnt to catch more than a cold and found it being ridden home my a drunk bloke so they took the bike form him and i got it back so it is still worth having a look at the cop shop, but the thing was they couldnt arrest him as they didnt take his details so when i reported it stolen they came and got finger prints but didnt have anyone to match them with!!!!!
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
best time to ring council to collect bulky items from back yard is just before an election they came the next day!!!!!!! Sorry to hear about the bike willow there really are some sh**s around

Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Yes the theft was reported to the police A-b but they sid they don't hold out much hope of it turning up. They've got a desciption in case they come across a dumped bike or if someone brings in one they've found (highly unlikely)
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Well now I'm certainly going to rest easier in my bed tonight. Lancashire Constabulary have informed us how sorry they are to hear that we've been the victims of crime and to console us they have sent us a copy of a Home Office leaflet.
|
Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
I'd put it in the kitty litter tray and post it back to them when it has been nicely tenderised...

Re: Thieving *!*%"!*& S !!!
Is it a good read?
