Dead in the Water?

I have just had a look at the Hyndburn-lite website. You know, the one that was launched with such a fanfare and at such exhorbitant cost last October, that's right, the one that was supposed to set the borough alight and be a technological beacon that would be the envy of other councils.

In the forums there has been one message posted since the ninth of march this year.

Yet another flash in the pan and wasted opportunity.

To the courageous soul who, annonymously, deducted karma for this thread,

If I appear to "moan" then it is because there is much to moan about. Would that there were not.

Would you rather I censor my comments and say only nice, cosy fluffy pink things about the world we live in? If that is the case then you are probably better advised to stick to The Peoples Friend or perhaps The Readers Digest. There's nothing too contentious in those two organs.

Once again goverments seem to think you only have to put a site up for it to be a success. There is a heck of a lot more goes into getting a site to be anywhere near as succesful a Accyweb. Som of it I think even Roy will agree is a smattering of luck.

Hopefully HBC will see the error of their ways and pull the plug before it sucks more of my council tax into the ether.

That speaks volumes. For all the mony they threw at it, not to mention posters and men on silly little pedal contraptions trundling around town, if you mention "Hyndburnlife Website" to the public at large the general response is " Ya What?"
