Im gonna hear thunder!!

sizzling britain is to be engulfed in flash floods, torrential rain, tornadoes, thunderstorms and hail the size of golf balls. in the south that is.Through tomorrow, Wales and north-western England are likely to have some prolonged outbreaks of rain, with thunderstorms from time to time. These may produce torrential downpours leading to local flash flooding!!

It's going to be worse up here? You can enter your location into the Metcheck site so accywebbers can see if it's pi**ing down any where in the UK.

Below is a short section of what explains how we can 'smell' Lightening:-

This odor was referred to by Benjamin Franklin who, comparing lightning and electricity, wrote to the Royal Society in London that both phenomena are attended by a sulphurous smell. This he mentioned among twelve other properties which suggested that lightning is an electrical discharge. No importance was attributed by him or by anyone else since to this sulphurous smell. The smell of ozone is different from the smell of vaporized sulphur or sulphurous compounds, and the supposition that the ancients were unable to distinguish between the two disregards the fact that besides the smell of ozone a sulphurous smell follows an electric discharge.

This suggests to me that sulphur is actually produced from the air by the passage of an electrical discharge. The quantity of sulphur must be detectable in a careful laboratory experiment.

If you want to read the rest then go to-

Re: I hear thunder!!

less any chance of you looking up my discharge ? the wife tends to blame it on a mixture of mixed spices mainley called curry ! but i tend to disagree, i think its a mixture of blythes chemicals and the boneyard ? me living so close to them both and breathing in all that shi...e would give me an upset stomach wont it.

I got wet today when I was in town but fortunately I had taken my little waterproof mac with me in my bag. Best purchase I ever made for an Accy summer that.

You need to put the apostrophe in King's Lynn Debbie, then it works fine. It won't show Norfolk because that's a county and it asks for a town. My Granddad was born in King's Lynn which has absolutely nothing to do with anything but he always thought he was born in Ipswich, which isn't even in the same county! His birth certificate said "Freebridge L" and we had no idea where that was until we found Freebridge Lynn by accident.
