Christmas is coming.

Now we've passed the summer solstice the days are growing shorter. After a long, sultry summer of five warm days it'll be nice to soon start ordering the turkey, dressing the tree etc.

For those last minute stocking fillers don't forget Accy Web's very own nude charity calender.

Good grief Rindy!!!!! I haven't even started thinking about Christmas yet. I'm still trying to decide on which clothes to take on my hols.

You can put me down for a calender though. A little stocking filler for Sparks..:D

I know depressing ain't it?

Hardly any summer and the nights are drawing in.

Looks like global warming will just bring us all year round wet damp weather instead of the hoped for Mediteranian climate. Less Campari at little tables under the shade of the trees outside the Market Hall, more drying off supping Horlicks inside at one of the caffs.

Strange thread today l know as l can see something yellow in the sky, but mark my words come weekend.

That isn't global warming that is an age old warning! The older you get the more damp you seem to be sitting in!

I've already started buying the stocking fillers & by the end of October I hope to have bought almost everything. Mince pies e.t.c should be in the freezer by then as well. I hate the crowds of xmas shoppers so like to get it all done early.

Did the Christmas lights come down in Accrington?

Shame.

They were up so long, and it'll be soon be time for that highlight of the social calender when some numpty from the council flicks them back on.

Now don't start, some clever soul down at the council did a Time and Motion on the erecting and dis-assembling of the christmas lights and they found:-

1/ If when you take them down you can never get them back into the box they came in then:-
2/ The Council would have to purchase a very large sideboard to keep the lights in until next year.
3/ On putting the lights up again they have found the cost of untangling them is too much and that there is always one light that needs replacing, (and their electrician always found it to be the last one that he tested).

SO
4/ By leaving the lights up all year round they can save enough to pay for the Councillors christmas bash! (You've got to admit that must be one hell of a saving).

I bought my dad's christmas present at the weekend.

Then is best, as it's all geared towards father's day, so everyone is trying to flog stuff.

I support the 'Keep Christmas in December' campaign.......but I think I must have been brainwashed over the years so that even I am buying odds and sods to put away for the festive season.......just hope the memory hold out as to where i have hidden everything.

i tip to any parents

keep recipts for all the expensive toys , computers and playstations and the likes

that way when you recieve a crummy jumper or a pair of socks for your birthday or christmas you got somthing to throw in the little ingrates faces when they are old enough to buy propper prezzies ;)

I've been avoiding this thread because I don't want to start thinking about Christmas until I've come back from Carnforth and I haven't even gone yet.

I know, this thread was intended tongue very firmly in someome's cheek.;)

I adore summer and find the idea too depressing that in theory we have all ready peaked. :(

Ok so not really a light box. It's an old birdcage with your picture in the bottom.

Does the trick though!;)

Their wive's mobile phones? How would that get them mad?

WillowTheWhisp 24-06-2005 13:46

Re: Christmas is coming.

They'd probably have bought the wife a new one by then after she told them she lost it. Doesn't wasting money make any man mad?

Moral-
never by wives a mobile phone for Christmas with a vibrating option.

Thanks for that Rindy......but the thought of me in undies is a killer!

pendy 27-06-2005 13:00

Re: Christmas is coming.

How did we get onto undies from Christmas? - mind you, went to our favourite restaurant just before Christmas last year, and got a pressie from the owner - a black satin thong with a golden bell on the front, emblazoned "Ring when ready"! - will NOT be modelling it this year.

I used to shop for Christmas starting in August, but then found that by 3 o'clock on Christmas Day I was thinking "Was that it? - after all that running around". Now, unless I see anything unmissable, I do leave it until the last minute. Got it all sussed - go down Oxford Street the Saturday before, do my shopping in batches, dump it at my favourite wine bar (by arrangement) sink a glass of red and do the next bit. Works well for me.

HOWEVER - everyone this year is going to get the Accyweb Nude Calendar - when do we start taking the piccies?

Margaret Pilkington 27-06-2005 13:16

Re: Christmas is coming.

Pendy.....it was rindy's fault......he told everyone that I cooked the Sunday lunch in my undies........and that while I was doing that he found his pressies hidden under my bed.
I have to tell you that the only thing under my bed is a thick layer of dust........can't move the bed....... and the cleaner(ME) will not reach.
