I didn't know anybody still had Wakes Week, where all the mills, etc, stopped for a week, and Blackpool was overrun with ladies in floral frocks and men with knotted hankies. I'm glad to see something still survives.

The majority of schools in Hyndburn are actually open the first week of Accrington Holidays. I know the school i work in do not finish until the Monday 18th July and my daughters school is Wednesday 20th July. How many children will be in school that week is debatable. My daugher is missing the last couple of days due to a mix up with holiday dates.
