as everyone is aware the people arrested are holders of a british passport/possible born here? my question to you is why is the only act for hanging............ treason! so how come i am in my fortys and never been invited to one?

They get commuted to life because the British people are thought to have no heart for the drop. It is seen as barbaric and senseless to hang a man or woman for Treason, although by their actions, many British Intelligence Officers, Solders, Sailor and Airman have lost their lives over the last forty years or so. Many spy’s where and are serving officers……What motivates someone to turn against there country is a bigger mystery to me than the one that allows them to live out their sentence without pain, loss and in comparative comfort.

i don't think terrorists should be hung,it would only make martyers of them,mi5 or some service should top em discreetly,save the cost of a trial and also deny their warped cause publicity sod the dogooders thats my opinion.

Maybe I read too many books, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if this sort of thing does happen.

There are suspicions about how Dr David Kelly died - if 'they' topped him, who knows how many other 'suicides' were in fact anything but

I am in favour of hanging for serious crimes, why should criminals be allowed to live out there lives when they have taken a life.
I believe in an eye for an eye.

Martyrs are still dead. Those who see them as glamourous can follow them for all I care, In fact we should offer the chance to go with them at all hangings. It would save a load of time and effort.

The death penalty is a good idea in theory but look at the USA. The states which have the death penalty have no uniformity as to its use. You are more likely to be put to death in some of the southern states than in the northern penalty carrying counterparts. In some states it takes anything between 10-15 years on death row before you are actually put to death. It costs millions more in legal appeals and the fees for these services paid for by the state, than it does just to keep somebody incarcerated for life.

Maybe we should have life sentences which mean life......

No perks in prisons....... I would love to see our prisons in the hands of that American chappie whos name slips my mind...:D
