watched it go up and was dismayed to see the bit come off it,just hope whatever it was does not compromise the safety of the astronauts.

if you watch any launch there is usually some bits that seem to fall of the shuttle more often than not they are parts of the launch pad which have not come away at the second of launch. I think we're more inclined to notice it after the tragedy of the last shuttle launch

oops how wrong was I, it's been announced it was some insulation that dropped off the same prob that led to the previous tragedy. The other shuttles have been grounded until further examinations are made but they have stated that discovery will not be affected as it's past the most dangerous part
