injury enquiry?
is it serious when the colour of your eye bleeds? just that my sis (mel 3ft) has had an object thrown at her eye and its bleeding inside the colored area shes at hospital now but me and me mum are very worried? help ???:(
|
Re: injury enquiry?
It sure doesn't sound good to me!!!
I think you need to prepare to make her feel comfortable when she comes home... You could make her an Alan Shearer tea for example:) |
Re: injury enquiry?
how do you know bout alan shearer teas? youve worried me even more now why doesnt it sound good to you?
|
Re: injury enquiry?
Eyes are really not my area of expertise but it sounds like the object thrown has scratched her Iris. They may irrigate the affected eye and have a good look at it. She may get away with having to wear a patch for a week or so if the scratch is superficial, she may also need antibiotics. I really wouldn't know what they will do if it is serious, as all the eye injuries that I came across on A+E were fairly superficial, (and I'm going back to 1990 here, the memory is a bit hazy). I'll keep my fingers crossed for her.

Re: injury enquiry?
thank you :)
|
Re: injury enquiry?
Hi Ya Boo.....I do hope 3fts OK. I don't think any of the nurses are on here at the moment but I think they would confirm that without a clinical examination we could only speculate. You will have to wait until she returns from hospital.
Can you tell us how this happened? |
Re: injury enquiry?
Ooops...sorry Lettie, I did'nt see you earlier.
|
Re: injury enquiry?
yeah sure she was talking to her friends and this stupid boy threw a plant seed at her, they look like tomatoes but come of a bush and when they flower they are quite big flowers are they poisonous too? Apparantley when i was little i got told not to touch them as they are poisonous. I went out to find the culprit and confront him and he admitted t doing it and apologised but me and my mum are really fretting. Weve never seen an injury like it its awful.

Hehehe, no problem. Eyes are not my thing anyway. Used to dread eye injuries coming into A+E, as I am so squeamish about them. Give me blood and guts anyday, but not eyes... |

|
Re: injury enquiry?
Its not my ego thats my problem:).its my big............................................... .......ears..lol
|
Re: injury enquiry?
I hope she'll be OK Boo. A friend of mine once had the white of her eye bleeding and it all went red but she didn't suffer any ill effects and I used to have a boss years ago who actually lost part of the iris of one of hos eyes so that it was keyhole shaped instead of round in the middle but he could still see OK and in fact well enough to drive. I know eye injuries are a worry though.

|
Re: injury enquiry?
oooo sorry to hear about Mel, boo. She's in the best place for it to be sorted. Eyes can bleed quite easily due to the sensitive blood vessels but usually with no long term effects. I'll be thinking of you all :)
|
Re: injury enquiry?
I am even less help than Lettie.......I didn't do Eyes in my training, I did ENT instead.......but to be honest I think that to give any real advice would be a bit pointless unless we had seen the injury.
I am sure that she is in good hands Boo.......please give her my good wishes and tell her a sore eye doesn't get you time off the washing-up. |
Re: injury enquiry?
Hope she's ok Boo, a friend of mine once got a sewing machine needle in her eye, it bled quite badly and left a scar across her iris, her sight was dodgy for a short while but she fine now and her sight is ok too.
|
Re: injury enquiry?
well i didn't quite get to the stag due to the fact that i had to go past the Boars head!!! I didn't actually get past..... my willpower is terrible! i'm still tempted to have a walk down though, just need to find out if there's anyone there hehe....

Re: injury enquiry?
Try not to worry too much Boo, Up to now I've had two injections INTO my eyeball, and I had the flap n zap laser surgery last year. My eyes both bled but it cleared up in about 3 weeks. They can do wonders nowadays

Re: injury enquiry?
The TV, telephone, internet kit they have now in hospitals is called patientline. Children under 16 get this for free. Everybody else has to pay by buying a card to make the machine work. The cards are expensive up tp £10 per day if you want internet. This is a money making racket by the patientline companies. The government wanted this system so that all patients could have their own phone line and the nurses wouldn't have to keep answering the phone to relatives, (we aren't allowed to give any information to relatives anyway). Lots of different companies are now installing their own version of this system into hospitals and raking in the cash. The system never works, nobody ever answers the helpline number which is probably a call centre abroad and the share prices for these companies are going down the pan.
All of our wards at work had their own tellys. Our aerials were taken down by this company so that patients would have to pay to watch their system. Their system is faulty more often than it is working, so lots of patients are bored witless. The nursing staff have to bear the brunt of people complaining about the system, so our workload has not lightened one iota.... Another ill thought out government scheme, just don't buy shares in these companies, you will lose money... |
