What colour are the 2 boxes A and B? 2 shades of grey?

Wrong!
There both the same colour, don't believe me? open it up in your photo editing program and you will find out.
There both 107RGB or #6B6B6B
I got this from a web site about setting up monitor colours and why it cant be done properly by eye.

I am astonished! I would have laid money on them being two quite different shades of grey. Just goes to show you...

Did you check it? I did and quite a few times as well to make sure!

It was easy for me to check as I use the eye-dropper extension in firefox, but I just don't get it. Obviously our eyes aint right good, but in that case what is the point in having any monitor that does a better job?

Honestly I didn't read the second part of the thread until after I'd clicked on the picture. I could see they were the same colour, it's the shadow that gives the initial illusion they may be different shades. Five years of colour theory wasn't wasted, hurrah!

I'm available for shopping trips to match bags with shoes girls [or boys,] all I ask for is lunch.:)

Re: Optical Illusion

I presume you mean the colour of the letters A & B not the colour of the boxes they are in, yes?

Roy 08-08-2005 20:02

Re: Optical Illusion

nope, he means the boxes that contain them.

I checked it in Photoshop and they are exactly the same.

Re: Optical Illusion

Silly question time from Doug………Is it not the shadow cast from the green column that creates the same degree of reflectivity, rather them being the same shade of grey?

Yes I've checked them using Paintshop Pro and yes they are the same but they do look different, I would like to see the blocks without the green cylinder.
