I think the kids clothes at Asda are great, my little un 's still at nursery yet but goes through a lot of clothes, they wash great and are a reasonable price.

Tealeaf.......the point I was trying to make was not about fashion, but about budgets and economics. I don't mean the budgets of the big businesses...or for that matter the economics of them either. I was talking about the budgets and economics of cash strapped parents.

I buy trousers in Asda for golf and general messing around in. Sometimes I find they are a better fit than from a good tailor. They are certainly value for money.

I WISH. My little'un has a clean uniform every day hence he needs three of every thing. He is dyspraxic (gormless in my youth) so wears more than he eats!

when i grew up they didnt have school unirorms at primary school and the only came into effect at secondary school

well the 3 primary schools i went to didnt have uniforms anyway

you cant blame people for snagging a bargain epecialy when these days most people need to watch the pennies

also tealeaf does have a point , wallmart has killed of tousands of towns in the usa and it has got that bad that organisations have formed to lobby against wallmart and sjome retailers have formed a kind of collective buying power so that can sell at lower prices to help persuade people to stay away from wallmart

in america wallmart sets up a supermarket at the edge of town away from all the other shops so that once there the customer i isolated away from other retailers and the pattern is the same here with asda

the thing is most people especialy poorer people want to save money and like the convinence of everything been all under one roof and usualy plenty of nearby FREE parking

i wont be a hypocryt and say people shouldnt use asda because i use them myself simply because of convinence and cheap prices although some things i do find a lot cheaper in town and farmfoods

iceland has some cracking bargains on as well theres always a £5 bundle deal or buy one get somthing free or buy one getone free

for example birdseye grill steaks were £1.79 at asda the last time i gotsome but only £1.00 at farmfoods

what asda gives you with cheap clothing etc is gained back on other items like some food items etc

anyway how much money you save depends on how much walking and time you are wiling to spend when shopping i guess

ps:

i got a smashing JIM fixed it FOR me T-shirt from asda and its held up pretty well for the past 6 months lol

Some things from ASDA might be cheap, but other things are stupidly expensive, and when all those local shops close down due to lack of business they'll be able to hump those prices even more...

One of the problems with market forces unfortunately.
