Everyone likes a bargain...!

Do you use blank CDs to store pictures/music.....or to back up your files.
If you do..... then get yourself to Home and Bargain where you will find 10 Blank Cd's in cases for 99pence......yes 99pence. Blimey I have paid more than that for just cases.

They are called Eternity HighSpeed CD-R's and are 700mb/80minutes.

I don't bother with cases normally and have moved onto dual layer DVD for storing data but that isn't a bad price at all for them. However I reckon that CDRs are going to suffer a final price crash as DVDs become the norm.

Re: Everyone likes a bargain...!

I know that is the way forward (DVD's), but there must be many folk out there who do use CD-R's and I just thought it would be nice to pass on the option of a bargain.
My machine doesn't write to DVD's. (or at least if it does, I don't know about it).

I use both DVD and CD-R when burning dependent on what it is and what it is for. The CD-R's are handy for my young daughter and if the price comes down further then nice. :)

Re: Everyone likes a bargain...!

Thanks for that Margaret. I bought 10 last week at Stationary Box for £1.99. That had come down from £3.99 last time I bought them from there. (Without cases of course.) I burn a lot of music for friends and family, so anything to keep costs down.

Old thread for info.
Just lost a bet, I really need to open my eyes more, when did "Home and Bargain" become "Home Bargains"?

Re: Everyone likes a bargain...!

For me CD’s are only good for burning music on them to play in my car CD player or my home stereo system.

This may not be the case with the CD’s that you mentioned Margaret Pilkington but my experience with cheap CD’s has been that they either won’t burn or something goes wrong after a while and they won’t play. Then again it could just be me and these could be the exception to my rule.

I prefer to stick with branded CD’s, although I accept that sometimes you get bad ones that are only useful as a scare in a garden or coaster or as a last resort a shaving mirror.

Just a thought, with the right amount of heat they could make a nice small flowerpot.

Jambutty, it is quite a while since I posted this thread.....I think Mick resurrected it to tell us of his bargain buy...however, the CD's that i mentioned in the original post have been excellent...both for music and for sending pictures to friends who don't have the facility of e-mails and computers. I do the picture disks for my mum....after our jaunts I will compile a disk of pictures and it allows her to re-visit these places again......and fill some of the lonely moments in her life. THAT has to be good.

Actually it was Bagpuss who led the charge but in fairness Bagpuss did start with “Old thread for info”

I just saw a thread title that I didn’t recognise so I had a look and the rest, as they say, is history.

I guess that I boobed.

I happy to read that the cheap CD’s did the business for you.
