Mods versus Rockers.
 

It's Bank Holiday Monday but what has happened to the traditional seaside fights between Mods and Rockers?

When I was a kid and Quadrophenia was released it saw a resurgence of this holiday away day fisty cuffs, but with punks taking over from the Rockers as the traditional foe.

Do they still go to the seaside but use motorbility scooters instead now, or pop down to B & Q along with the rest of the nation?

Has another English traditional died, along with burning witches and use of the ducking stool?

I was in Brighton on the saturday and they filmed Quadraphenia scenes on the sunday... we had to leave sat night... had I been able to stay I could have been one of the extras in the film... scooter clubs from all over britain had been invited down... quite a place to be on the sat anyways.... who knew it would be a classic eh...

They're all about the same age as me now. They'll have spent the bank holiday mowing the lawn and polishing their scooters and the only pot they'll have is the one with geraniums in by the front door. By the way, according to my younger daughter, only Paul McCartney and I still call it pot! ;)

I think it's a shame that British youth culture has become so tame.


We used to leaf the world in 'yoof cultcha', now we just tuck our Chinese made 'designer' tracksuits into our socks and listen to black American *rap.

ah mods and rockers,happy days,was in a punch up on the corner of accy town hall and as we rounded the corner,one of me best mates from down the rovers was scrapping with a rocker(which i was)we just stared at each other,cracked up laughing and went to the derby for a pint,that was the begining and end of our soujern into mods and rockers.

Judging by the carpark mayhem they were all at the trafford centre. We thought we would take a short cut through the car park at 4pm yesterday and were stuck in the jam for over 15 minutes. Wont do that again on a Bank Holiday
