I've heard quite a lot of fireworks going off within the last half hour (just as it went dark). Wonder if it could be at the Dunk celebrating a wedding or something similar.

I don't mind bonfire night itself - although I'm a nervous wreck with the kids playing with sparklers - but I hate the run up to it. Some idiots across from us have more money than sense and for the four weekends running up to it start setting off fireworks every Friday and Saturday when they return home from the pub.
I think the police should be entitled to go around and at the very least tell them to stop but I phoned the police and they said there was nothing they could do. I pointed out that if I'd pipped my car horn that late they'd have been able to have a quiet word with me so what was different about this? They did absolutely nothing and I'm dreading it happening again this year. I think it's selfish and inconsiderate. I have two small children and I'm not the only one in the area with kids. |

where are you? they have been setting em off all summer round our way, paticularly at weekends,think it has todo with some of our mates getting married etc lollll

The people opposite me have more money than sense. Have you seen the cost of fireworks these days? For a good one it's at least £20. On a Fri and Sat before the night itself they must be spending in the region of £200 a night. |

i thought it was illigal to set fireworks off in public now and the only time was a few days grace over the bombfire night period
i know asians use them to celibrate ide ( not sure how to spell) but apart from religeios events like that and the chineese new year i thought you wernt allowed to set them off especialy late at night i am probably wrong lol |

we usually have a firworks display at the pub but one year an old fogey (sorry i had to) rang up the police and complained. The police rang up and told my dad to stop messing with fireworks! It was a display that was started at 7:30pm and would have finished at approx 8 - 8:15 pm? i must admit i cannot stand fireworks and am absolutley petrified of them but it was a familiy display there were sfety measures taken and it ran smoothly until this old man rang up. what was his problem?? would he ring up the police if there were kids on the street kicking doors down and setting fireworks of then? no because hed be too scared that the children would kick down his door. its only one main night a year that my dad gets his christmas ( he absolutley loves bonfire night we call it his christmas) and somebody had to spoil it. boring person! lol :)

yes it was an organised display, but it was more for me than the kids! cause i love bonfire night, the owd foggie that came round said it was worse than the blitz.The police phoned me and asked if i could control the fireworks i replyed that they wernt remote controlled.6.30 untll 8.30 two hours of sheer banging brill.;)

I hate it with a passion. Even has a child I'd quake. Then end up all ashen. I know whats going on and I shake in fear. So what must it be like for our poor animals. I'm glade i'm not working with the emergency services on that night. If I had my way,they would be BANNED. |

Well after the last few nights up her with the flaring and noise from the BP refinery fireworks would be a blessing at least you can stop them. The BP wont as flaring is an alledge safety action.

When Mummiboo was little they would build a bon fire in our back garden.
There were potatoes roasting in the fire. I would be in the kitchen cleaning up muddy foot prints and dishing out parkin and treacle toffee. one year Mummiboo and her sister disided to invite half the street. A couple of days before hand I would ask them if they wanted fire works or a toy. They always picked the fireworks with a little influence from there dad. |

The fireworks have stopped, I think they start selling them quite early, we still have a big box of them in our garage from last year though, I did think you could be fined if you were caught letting them off after 10pm?
