wandering PM

Or prime minster is now on another foreign jaunt to China and India "alledegly for the sake of trade". Now some of the big business boys have gone as well in the hope of trading bra's and call centers for aeroplanes. Now how can sort out a trade deal when the country is under a seige minor that it is of "unruly people" is something that is beyond him. If the CBI. gang cannot get a deal who can. He is over there as "President of the EU that same autocratic overpaid under work bunch of...... well you decide.

I am not against the idea of trade to secure UK jobs but how many of you have had the "indian problem" ie call centres? They say its for the better as its cheaper well in my not always better. I thought my comand of English was bad until I had the misfortune of being in "conference with one of these centres. My problem was divulged and after a few minutes of getting nowhere and I mean nowwhere I was asked is it important. Crikey if it hadn't been important I wouldn't have been callig I would have got a beer and cigar.

So is TB right to go business hunting like this or should he stay at home and sort out our domestic problems first and leave the EU to acctualy earn the taxpayers pounds we give them?

Could "for the sake of trade" possibly be UK exports? In which case the potential foreign revenue could make the trip worthwhile.

Well I have spent over 6 months training a philipino lad how to do my job. I'm then asked to 'multiskill' so that all the work I used to do can be shipped offshore. Reason? Its cheaper they say. only it isn't. they work on a manday rate of approximately half what they charge out for me. However it takes 4 times as long to do the job and that is by the philipinos own admission! We in the UK are also always the ones that the Project Managers come to when their deadlines are being pushed as they know we will fix whatever problems are causing the holdups. We are told by our bosses to push back and tell them their resources are offshore but all they then do it go further up the foodchain and scream until someone of god status gives them dispensation to get us involved. Its a joke. Meantime a lot of our short term contractors are being pushed out teh door. over 500 from a contractor base of 600 have been released within a year. Now call me a cynic but just how much knowledge of our systems has walked out the door? Far too much IMHO. Still when it all goes pear shaped and they come shouting it will be too late.

your right to be cynical entwi, knowledge going out the door has been happening for a few years now, while it may well be dearer long term its probably cheaper on paper-short term.
