Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

There is a rip-roaring debate going on at the moment in the Stanley part of the site on the percieved lack of local people turning up to watch the team play, certainly at the home games. Purely as a polling exercise, therefore, this is an attempt to find out the reasons why. If you are an Ultra or a regular Stanley fan - go away. You are the converted; this thread is not for you. However, if you are a passive Stanley fan..or if you have no interest in footy whatsoever, then this may be for you.

Errr...moderators...can we make this a sticky? (The case being that this institution is the one that makes Accy most famous and there is a possible perceived lack of interest)

Cheers

Re: Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

One of the reasons is sort of applicable but if I really wanted to go it wouldn't be the thing that deterred me. Last time I went to football matches all I remember is being cold, tired wet and unable to see the ball cos I'm shorter than all the people who were stood in front of me. Therefore it was a totally boring experience. That doesn't mean I'm not interested in how well they do though.

I'm a only a little dot, everyone towers above me but at Stanley you can see the ball standing or sitting I promise and the atmosphere is really good .... if you have an interest in football ..... even a slight one give Stanley a try, don't let one bad experience put you off :)

I doubt there will be anyone in your way tonight. far from it in fact.. there was as near as dammit a thousand on sat.. would be surprised if 200 tonight... plenty of room to see :)

Re: Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

Stanley have very kindly donated two tickets for a match as a raffle prize for the VE/VJ celebratory party. Do you think it would be considered a fix if I won the raffle? lol

I've never been to a Stanley game as I am a Rovers supporter but I do always check out the Stanley result on match days. I should come and visit the ground some time.

I do when in Accy if they are at but living in Scotland makes it arkward. At least I have a genuine reason and make the effort.

Re: Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

they play on saturdays

fixtures in the local paper and posters around accy

shop in town.. and at the club and online..

all the info online and on this very site your using now!

dont know....is a poor excuse.

Re: Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

I always look out for the Stanley result and fixtures, Coley and Jimmy Bell are both ex-Lancaster City (my team) boys, always like Stanley to be above Morescum in the table.
Realistically though, I have too many football teams on the go, Lancaster come first, I've been following them for half of my exsistence now, but I also watch Padiham and Gt Harwood (cos of Lancaster connections through the seasons) and it's all v time consuming.....but I love it, you meet some amazing people and get to visit places you would never dream of ever going to - Nuneaton Borough away for me this Saturday.

Re: Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

The main reason is probably cost. Not that I can't afford it, I just won't pay it. Not for this level of football.

Re: Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

i would go but im working every time theres a bludy match on if i was to book the afternoon of work then ive still got the problem of no one to go with my fella is an avid rovers fan and my friends are the kind of girls who could probably faint at the sight of mud, my mum and dad work in the pub!!!!!

im a rovers fan at heart but i support stanley as there my home town team and anything thats going to give accrington praise im all up for it.

You can buy Garinda collecters dolls even in the States. They're made by the Franklin Mint, the company that sued Diana's estate.

I gave them my full blessing, and are perfect to the minutest detail, right down to the real hair, which comes from Nordic Laps.:)

In another friend I mentioned I did the same thing. It came up with garinda/prostitute/Accrington web.

How I laughed, and upped my prices.

Re: Why I don't go to watch Stanley play.

I cant go to stanley matches because i work on a saturday afternoon and before you say there are matches during the week i am my mums carer. If I could go I would even though i would have to hike it out of accrington from the bus station - hate walking up that hill. I always look for stanley scores there is a reason for that - i have a discussion with a friend on aol who is a halifax town supporter last season was fun he said halifax was going up and i enjoyed the last day of the season sent him a copy of table and asked when halifax was going up. But I am a burnley fan at heart.
