Simple things that make you smile

Sometimes, the most simple and mundane thing gives us pleasure. We all know the obvious, like finding a £10 in your pocket that you didn't know you had but what about the even more mundane stuff -

- the shopping coming to a round £20
- being the first post on a new page on a thread
- turning the radio on and it playing your favourite song

any more for any more?

it was our 44th wedding anniversary yesterday ,and my hubby said he loved me just as much now as in 1961 ,,,and i believe him

when my boy learns somthing new even if it is how to say doh like homer simpson

seeing people walk into lamposts when the are too busy talking to look where they are going always raises a smile too :D

Yes, it made me smile too, Grannyclaret. My parents celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this year and in these days of easy divorce it's really nice to hear of longevity. I'm celebrating my 7th this year - apparently it's brass!

Listening to Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue". First it reminds me of my dad, who used to play it on the piano when I was very small, then of my late husband who, like me, was a Gershwin fan - I had this piece played at his funeral. First I cry, then I smile.

Anything by Glenn Miller, for the same reasons as above.

The sound of my granddaughter's laugh.

The voice on the phone that says, "Hello Nan, it's Peter" (my 19 year old grandson).

Our cat, sitting on the lawn in the sunshine with her back leg in the air, having a "bath".

Our dear old dog wagging her tail and sniffing the air, when we walk through the fields, and shedding her 16 years for a while.

Oh you just reminded me of a Christmas carol I have on tape by Joseph Locke where he sings about the "sterrr" of Bethlehem! Can't help having hysterics when we play that.

I like it when my wimpish cat gets tough with the neighbourhood cats. I saw him standing his ground the other day and I was really proud of him.

When Emily smiles and coos..............just melts my heart.
Just as it did with my 2 boys.

Seeing my boys tickling each other a falling over laughing.

When I get on the scales on wednesday weigh in to see the results of my hunger all week!

I smile at lots of things, My 7 year old telling me he loves me before he asks for something, him and my 5 year old Grand daughter on the rare occasions they have a cuddle, coming home after a long journey and finding my home in one piece

Liverpool FC kicking a football so it goes into the back of a net.Sounds quite simple but rarely achieved,that would make me smile Failing that Dot Cotton off Eastenders always makes me smile(not sayin she's simple).Isn't she wonderful?

All my Grand children make me smile in their own little ways.
Like my little Grandson who will ask for a huggle and tells me he loves me for no reason.
My Grand daughter who thinks i'm a star.
Mummiboo when she phones me up for a quick chat and end up talking for hours.
Babies and animals.
Soppy films.
Mick when we were younger and he was stood on train station holding a single red rose. Just for little meee.

Mum when shes in a good mood and when she goes on holiday
my nieces & nephews when they come up to visit
& getting my own back on my nephews when they do something they shouldnt but thats another story
my sisters dog - a jack russell and everybody knows wot theyre like when theyre crazy well this one is insane and thats putting it politely

Last time was in Tommy Balls in Blackburn and this man shouted at the top of his voice whilst pointing at Linden "CHESNEY!!!" Poor Linden didn't know what to do with himself. But I suppose it made me smile, rather apt for this thread :)

when my son sings to me he's 4 now but he has always sung to me even when he was in his pram i would say sing to me Jack and he would.( sooo cute)

My neices singing advert jingles.
Remembering a dream i had where a friend got a pencil jabbed in his eye thru a key hole. Don't know why, but it always makes me laugh. Suppose that says more about me than i'd like; but it cheers me up when i feel low!

i had to smile today when my little grandaughter rang up and asked if the muffin man had been,,,we ordered it on the tinternet she said all excited
a parcal arrived this morning,and instead of flowers it was a big beautiful box of muffins with a birthday card that read say it with flour ...i loved it so much that i will deffinately send a box to someone else on a special occasion .:e19: :e19:

Me and tinks on a girlie night In or out makes me smile. We can make a conversation out of anything, but the sense of humours are identical so usually end up weeing myself at the things we come out with.

talking of anne robinson... she was caught out by a traffic warden and when she got back to the car the warden was waiting and when she picked up the ticket the warden calmy said "You are the weakest link, goodbye" winked and walked away. How much would you have smiled if you saw that??? :D
