no I don't think they will unless you are next of kin. The names will be released when all close family members have been notified. How come if your friend lives manchester way you assumed when the accident happened over here that it could be your friend??

shes 26 and drives a Vauxhall Corsa, she wasnt out on Sat night. she also has friends in the Blackburn/Burnley area.
Ive made several attempts to contact her via Texts, emails and phone calls since Sunday morning and aint heard a thing since !

It would do you no good to ring the hospitals. Even if you are the next of kin, they are not allowed to give information over the phone. It's called patient confidentiality, also you would be surprised at how sneaky the press can be. They will often ring hospitals pretending to be family and asking for info. I have dealt with this on several occasions and the only way nurses can deal with this is to tell everybody nothing. We only give information, to anybody, with the patient's permission.

yes lettie i agree, being in the same situation as you at work, to be safe just don't give details over the phone, your job is well and truly up the creek if information falls into wrong hands.
