Uses for dead cats
Never mind entwisi's LPG. How about running your car on dead cats. I think this is the ultimate eco-friendly fuel, we'll never run out of cats.
From the Reuters news site: German inventor's 'cat fuel' angers animal lovers Wed Sep 14, 2005 3:15 PM BSThttp://i.today.reuters.co.uk/images/spacer.gif Printer Friendly | Email Article | RSShttp://i.today.reuters.co.uk/news/images/iconRSS.gif http://i.today.reuters.co.uk/news/images/clear.gif BERLIN (Reuters) - A German inventor has angered animal rights activists with his answer to fighting the soaring cost of fuel -- dead cats. Christian Koch, 55, from the eastern county of Saxony, told Bild newspaper that his organic diesel fuel -- a home-made blend of garbage, run-over cats, and other ingredients -- is a proven alternative to normal consumer diesel. "I drive my normal diesel-powered car with this mixture," Koch said. "I have gone 170,000 km (106,000 miles) without a problem." The Web site of Koch's firm, "Alphakat GmbH," says his patented "KDV 500" machine can produce what he calls the "bio-diesel" fuel at about 23 euro cents (30 cents) a litre, which is about one-fifth the price at petrol stations now. Koch said around 20 dead cats added into the mix could help produce enough fuel to fill up a 50-litre (11 gallon) tank. But the president of the German Society for the Protection of Animals, Wolfgang Apel, said using dead cats for fuel was illegal. "There's no danger for cats and dogs in Germany because this practice is outlawed in Germany," Apel told Bild on Wednesday in a story entitled "Can you really make fuel out of cats?" "We're going to keep an eye on this case," Apel said. |
Re: Uses for dead cats
Just as well it not April 1st I think.
Not too sure if I like the idea but would love to see fuel at the prices stated in stead of being ripped-off by a garage the other day!!! Had price of deisel on big boards at 97.9p a litre but when you got too pump the prices was £1.02.9 a litre not saying which garage it was but think some of you will know |
Re: Uses for dead cats
Being a cat owner......and cat mad, I can see why the animal rights activists are up in arms.
There are other ways to fuel cars......and they would be developed more except that this goverment gets such a rake off in revenue.......every time the price goes up Gordon Brown must rub his hands with glee. |
Re: Uses for dead cats
i prefer just to hang them in the yard as a deterant to other cats :D
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
Maybe we could use rats instead? There's enough of them in Hyndburn. :)
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
another use for cats ! there was a well known restarant in accy prosecuted in the 60s for having dead cats hanging in the fridge, was reported in the observor at the time. no names but chicken fried rice was on the menu lolll
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
Lovely stuff! At last we have something with a bit of life in it....some of the other stuff that has been posted on here recently appears intended to turn the Accy Web into a 1950's womens weekly magazine. The only thread that seems to have been missing is one for people to swop knitting patterns for sleeveless pullovers.
As for other uses for dead cats, let me have a think... |

I wonder what sort of response a thread called "Uses for Dead Councillors" would elicit.
Seriously though, wasn't there a series of books published about ten years ago on this very subject (dead cats, not dead councillors)? |

Maybe someone could invent a recipe for pigeon petrol and we could kill two birds with one stone and rid the town centre of bird poop. |

slow down there gary .......cats have nine lives thery are luckythats why they can run cars on them, and willow i woyuld rather hear a bird sing rather than a CAT meeow!

Pigeons are classed as vermin in town centres. Most councils are trying to dispose of them. Bit of a contrast to the little old lady on the steps of St. Pauls selling bird food at "Tuppence a Bag" but that's progress for you. |

Tweety birds in trees are a different thing, even cooing pigeons in trees are quite nice. Just the pooping on public buildings which causes a problem. |
Re: Uses for dead cats
When it comes to pigeons give me a Wood Pigeon and as for a cat I would settle for a Jaguar. As for the people pooper ones in the town get a Harris Hawk of Buzzard, failing that a shotgun. :D

Re: Uses for dead cats
I am a cat lover and the dead cat petrol does sound a bit offensive but............ If the cats are already dead anyway, they may as well be put to good use...:D
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
Bury them in the back garden they will freshen the soil a bit. Burning cat fuel would proberly stink worse than a sewer.

Lol Neil... To be honest I couldn't care less what they do with me when I'm gone.. If the gases produced by my decomposition come in useful to someone then by all means use em....:D

Re: Uses for dead cats
I like the thought of using pigeons for fuel. I have always said that a fortune waits for the man or woman who invents a chewing gum that is irresistable to pigeons so that when the morons spit it all over the pavement the pigeons swoop down and clear it. Although it would have to contain something that destroys the reproductive cycle in pigeons.!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Uses for dead cats
I don't know why people have such a downer on pigeons. If we didn't leave so much crap about, natural survival birth control would limit the amount of their crap we have to endure.
Pigeon poop is relatively charming compared with seagull plop, and most people like to see those big bruisers scavaging for rubbish. |
Re: Uses for dead cats
Pigeon poop is not pleasant at all and contains the meningites bug.
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
No animal poop is pleasant, I'm sorry cat lovers including cat poop, and as for dog's eggs, that can cause blindness.
It's funny how we value certain of God's creatures more highly than others, unlike other religions. |
Re: Uses for dead cats
shall we cross reference this thread with my one on SHOG DITE>
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
As a cat owner I'd just like to say that my cat does her poops and piddles in a litter tray.
Any animal excrement in public places is nasty. Animals in the wild and in the countryside are a different matter because it decomposes in a natural environment. Pigeons in trees in the woods I have no problem with. Pigeons pooping in public places causes diseases. |
Re: Uses for dead cats
Unless cats are always kept in houses all the time,or wear little feline nappies, trust me they do like to express their 'feelings' outside of their own patch. I know, all of my neighbours also provide litter boxes.
Sorry bad thread wander, and like Fireman said he already has it covered, or is it covered in it? |
Re: Uses for dead cats
i am not complaining,a seagul ploped on my head the other day,and this morning i received a premium bond for £50... where theres muck theres brass....
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
I wish I had £50 for every time a seagull had plopped on me. My mother used to say "Muck for luck" but I'm still waiting.
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
A seagull plopped on my head at a wedding in Bolton-le-Sands in 1970, I've considered myself lucky ever since.:)
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
You mean lucky to get away from Bolton le Sands.
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
the dead cats seem to have gone missing lolllll
|
Re: Uses for dead cats
We spent ages training our kitten to use a litter tray. The minute she was allowed out she wouldn't use it. In fact if the window isn't open to get out she will come and wake me up if she wants the toilet and I can either open the door or the window.
I reckon she goes up into teh woods at the top of our street as I have never seen any poop on any neighbours lawns/gardens. |
Re: Uses for dead cats
Hope she doesn't go on the golf course!!!!!!!!!
