Good old Queen Mum!

I found this story this morning and had to laugh.

it comes from an article in the Daily Mail concerning extracts from a new book about the Cherie Bleuuugh.

"The apparent tensions, however, did not stop the late Queen Mother inviting Mrs Blair to an afternoon tea party for her elderly women friends during a Balmoral holiday. According to Scott: "It was not just tea but a steady supply of sherry that was on offer to the titled OAPs. "The party began in a genteel enough manner, but as the afternoon progressed it steadily descended into a raucous singalong with the Queen Mother leading from the front and insisting that a mortified Cherie join in every tune."

How I would love to have been a fly on the wall at that little gathering. Tea hee!

I reckon that old girl knew how to party. Shame shes gone really, still good innings and all that.

You can just imagine Cherie mumbling along though :)

I think it hilarious that Cherie was invited to a party which was clearly for old women. Not very flattering to receive an invitation to that one.:D

The QM and Cherie Blair in a drink and sing party would have been good to see. Imagine if Mrs Freebie had turned it down the press would have had a field day. QM the party animal who would have thought.

I'm just off for my six monthly meeting with my neurologist Doctor Grump at 'THE OLD PEOPLE'S CLINIC' at Queen's Park Hospital. If he's running late they serve the room full of shakers, tea in cups and saucers, which is hilarious.

I think I'll take a couple of bottles of cooking sherry, because this old Queen is partial to a rousing chorus of 'Knees Up Mother Brown' as well.

Does anyone remember scenes from Spitting Image in the 80's. Everytime they did the QM or Princess Margaret, they were always half cut...... Class show...:D

I've now got visions of a group of geriatrics doing the conga round the hospital led by Garinda.:D

Several months ago, I took Mez, Pendy & David into one of my local hostelries here, which a few weeks earlier had been the scene of a location shoot within a film about the early life of Princess Margaret. I believe this film will shortly be shown on Channel 4 and will invariably attract some controversy. As the shots went in the can, HRH has a few stiff drinks in the pub and then has something else stiff round the back of the pub......(with a good brawl in between).

Re: Good old Queen Mum!

Why cant the HRH mob get full of the drink like the rest of us? Charlie stagering around with a skin full would be a sight to behold. Wonder if he ever beat his gran in a drinking contest?

The thing I could never work out about that is why they gave The Queen Mother a Birmingham accent.

I never worked that one out either. I always thought that it was some sort of 'in joke' that I was too thick to understand..:)
