Have You Started Xmas Shopping Yet ?

Ive bought some real crackers from Ebay. So far got about 20 pressies for my laddo ! Spent about £80 on ebay. Now if i had bought these from the shops you would be talking at least £300 +
Designer t-shirts (Bear USA, Umbro, Adidas, Nike, etc) from 0.99p all brand new with tags !
PS2 XBOX games, still in shrink wrapper from 0.99p
DVD's also from 0.99p

I just won a pair of Nike tracksuit bottoms, brand new, still in shrink wrap with all tags on...shop price £46.00 for £1.20 + £1.99 postage....cant grumble at that, not with teenage sons !

Cant wait for crimbo again !

Have surprised myself this year and have actually bought a couple of pressies already. I will probably be panic stricken on Xmas Eve trying to buy the rest...:)

Re: Have You Started Xmas Shopping Yet ?

I have been having a look round today for ideas of what to get my son & Grand children. Has anyone else noticed how many gambling games there are? I went in one shop and there were 4 different things one armed bandits roulette and others. Are we supposed to teach the young of today to gamble? So that once they are old enough they will know what to do in the big casinos? Will any one teach them responsibility so they don't end up as addicts with huge debts? Don't get me wrong I'm not anti gambling I like the odd flutter but only if I have got money to waste (which isn't often)But I don't think enough parents will warn kids of the pitfalls of gambling & just buy the games without thinking of the consequences in later life. Which is great for the owners of these establishments and the Government (taxes) but not good for those who will be mugged robbed e.t.c to fund the addiction.

OK rant over

Why not gamble the money and if you win give it to them. if you lose tell them they would have had a present if you hadn't gambled it away That way they win either way, either a nice big pressie or a valuable lesson in life :)

Nice bit of moral education there but my daughter would want me strung up for doing it as me and gambling are not suited. Cannot even win a fiver on the thunderball. :(

I think I will get the bike she wants and then i get a bit of piece.

theres a shop in the arndale at BLACKPOOL called half price or less,, they get some real bargains in there,,,but you have to be there at the right time or there gone,, got a load of barbie stuff there last year at a fraction of the high street prices

Re: Have You Started Xmas Shopping Yet ?

For as long as I can remember I have had a 'treasure' drawer....I buy stuff all year round...and when a birthday comes along I go and see if there is anything suitable in my 'treasure' drawer...if not then i have to go out and buy.....but I am buying christmas presents all year round. That makes me sound very organised...but I'm not really.

SPUGGIE J 28-09-2005 19:59

Re: Have You Started Xmas Shopping Yet ?

Well if I get stuck Margret can i give you a shout? :D

Sounds like a great idea Margaret tho will need to keep it from the little rugrats LOL

Margaret Pilkington 28-09-2005 20:03

Re: Have You Started Xmas Shopping Yet ?

That used to be my problem too....in fact sometimes some of the hidey holes that I found for presents for my daughter when she was little were so good, that when Christmas came I couldn't find what i had bought......!

Margaret Pilkington 28-09-2005 20:05

Re: Have You Started Xmas Shopping Yet ?

There is only one little rugrat who visits here......and if he can get into my treasure drawer then I will enrol him on the 'World's Strongest Toddler Competition..... the said drawer is under my bed....but to get into it it means moving things so that it will open.

Re: Have You Started Xmas Shopping Yet ?

When my daughter was little, I used to put the Christmas tree up on Christmas Eve after she had gone to bed....she would come down Christmas morning...see the tree and the presents.....she thought that Father Christmas brought the tree and the presents, and she thought the fairies decorated the tree.....One year when she was about 6 she climbed up to the top cupboards in the back bedroom and the tree fell out.... I had to tell her that the fairies had left it there because with so many children in the world they had too much work to do.... and that from then on we would have to decorate it ourselves. She always thought the fairies did it better than us. Aah, the death of innocence!
