Crime
President Blair confessed that the police and courts were old fashioned. As a result he wants to; Root out yobs binge drinkers and drug dealers and orginised crime. I can see issues with that;
1 the courts dont want change they like it the cosy way it is. 2 the police would have to toughen up (not likely). 3 pubs would go out of business if binge drinkers are lifted and jailed 4 we aint got the prisons 5 were would we shop if they crack down on orginised crime there wouldnt be a supermarket open anywere. 6 jail drug dealers and how would the NHS cope with the drug addicts withdrawl symptoms? :) :rolleyes: :cool: :p ;) :D :confused: :o :eek: :engsmil: :mad: :( :Banane32: :Banane39: :Banane47: |

Re: Crime
We can put pensioners in prison for a council tax bill of £53, but we don't seem to be able to keep dangerous stalkers inside.who then go on to shoot their victims.
The police understandably get fed up with making a case which the Crown Prosecution Service then decide is unworkable. Why don't we try the system that the US is working on - three strikes and you're out. If you are convicted of a serious offence for the third time, they bang you up for the duration. As for not having enough prisons, why don't we use our unemployed population (and perhaps asylum seekers as well) to build new prisons. They're being paid anyway, they might as well do something useful for their money, and it would probably be better for them than sitting around all day. |
