What's your favourite film?

Flicked on the TV this morning and one of my all time favourite films was on - The Goodbye Girl. I couldn't help myself - even though I have it on video and could watch it any time I wanted - I still found myself watching it.

Other films to get me in the same way

Sense and Sensibility - I end up crying whether I've switched on right at the beginning or just caught the last ten minutes.
Four Weddings and a Funeral - can't help myself, I think Hugh Grant's lovely.

and, the surprise choice

Terminator - a bit different from the others but still compulsive viewing.

What hooks you in the same way?

An Officer and a Gentleman, Quadrophenia, Dirty Danceing, Beetlejuice, Grease :D

I'm the same! I have them on DVD but still watch them when they are on TV. I have also been known to watch Officer and A Gentleman on TV then thought, I really enjoyed that, so I put the DVD on and sat through it again. Now that's devotion to Mr Gere

Mine has to be “calamity Jane”. I know it’s an old film but somehow I still enjoy watching it.
Good old Doris Day.

Re: What's your favourite film?

Well, Len, I wanted to look just like Doris Day when I was 14. Sadly, for me, I didn't.

My favourite film has got to be "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart. I can watch it over and over again and still love it. I also often watch "The Glenn Miller Story" on video. Being an ardent Miller fan and loving Jimmy Stewart it has everything I want, notwithstanding the fact that most of it is made-up and just didn't happen that way. ;)

We were talking about the fab English film from the 80's last night in the chatroom 'Rita, Sue and Bob too.' A very funny film about life in a northern town in the grim Thatcher years, and about ordinary people's lives. We particularly liked the guest appearance by Black Lace in the social club, and their rendition of 'We're havin' a Gangbang.'

In the chatroom we never quite decided who was Rita, Sue, or indeed Bob.;)

Anybody remember when she (Judy Garland) was to appear at the London palladium and live on t.v. at the same time? After about twenty, thirty minutes of waiting they forcefully poured her onto the stage in no condition to do her or her audience any good! I think that was one time the show shouldn't have gone on!

What are classing as scary films Mummiboo?

Slash horror movies, I hate them, they are so predictable .... though I do like Hellraiser.

Psychological horrors are more scary, ones that make you think like ... Final Destination .... OMG that film was scary! Mothman Prophecies is another one (Richard Gere again :)) and Sixth Sense what an awesome film!

I'm looking forward to seeing Wolf Creek, I bet that's really scary being based on a true story.

white noise, erm final destination (we have that one) erm thirteen ghosts darkness falls creep. they all scared me but thats good because thats what it was supposed to do.

films that have monsters in them dont scare me but give me a jumpy film where you dont know what is going to happen then thats me im hiding behind my pillow it good it gets the blood pumping daddiboo finds it hilarious if he falls asleep i have to wake him up to watch with me or i have to put the light on. lol
