What have you broken?
My little girl currently has a cast on her arm. She fell off a chair last weekend. The x-ray wasn't conclusive so they put a cast on just as a precaution. She's going to have it taken off on Monday hopefully.
So what has everyone else broken? |
Re: What have you broken?
Worst I've had is a broken finger.

Re: What have you broken?
I broke my ankle when I was 4, fell over the kerb round the hearth. We were in the throes of moving house at the time.
Broke my wrist when I was at school (right hand) but as I'd started out in life left-handed and was made to use my right hand at a nasty horrible school I went to I managed to cope fairly well. |
Re: What have you broken?

Re: What have you broken?

Re: What have you broken?
My husband broke his leg playing Rugby one Boxing Day years ago, my elder daughter broke a finger playing netball, my son broke both his front teeth skateboarding and dislocated his hip playing football, my younger daughter broke her ankle when she stumbled in a pothole on an unmade road. My grandson broke his collar-bone when he fell over their dog when he was 4 then broke his arm when he fell off a climbing frame in a pub garden. My mother broke her leg when she missed the bottom stair in her house, my dad broke both arms jumping a back-yard gate when he was a little boy (about 1915) and my eldest brother broke a leg playing football in the army (National Service).
So far my granddaughter and I are unique. We are still in one piece. :) |

Re: What have you broken?
i broke my little toe out of love!!! i was moving a solid pine dining table so i could make a romantic meal for me and my fellas first anniversary and as me and my sister took the top of from the legs i stupidly said balance it i moved and accidently knocked it and it crashed down on my pinky toe! oh good god was i in agony i looked like a typical cartoon character jumping up and down screaming ow for about an hour! that night i sat at the table with ice on my poor foot and my fella having to do the clearing up and washing up, it was supposed to be my treat for him too!
to this day my little toe still hurts when i wear new shoes or dance even when im asleep sometimes it wakes me up hurting me! i play on it though when i want something of my fella i usually blame him and send him on a guilt trip! lol  |
Re: What have you broken?
I've never broken anything, except a few hearts, and cracked a few mirrors along the way.

Re: What have you broken?
Three ribs on New Years Eve/Morning 04/05.Only went next door, lol.Did it coming home, fell off a wall and hit my head, knocked myself out etc.Woke up on the settee 7am in total agony.Never known pain like it.Got a taxi to hospital and all they gave me was 1 bloody painkiller which I had an allergic reaction to.Itchy rash all over my body. Then at the same time I developed a cough which was like sticking a knife in me every time I coughed.Could barely move or sleep for over a week. Was in pain for about 6 weeks. All For The Sake Of Auld Lang Syne....quiet night in this year I think.

Re: What have you broken?
About 25 years ago I was riding a motorcycle along Blackburn Road towards Accy centre and I turned left down King Street, as I turned, a child ran out of Albion Street, I braked hard and threw myself over the handlebars and landed in a heap on the floor breaking my collar bone which I can still feel the break to this day. The child although was unhurt, she still suffered shock and was taken with me in the ambulance to Accy Victoria Hospital, we were both allowed home afterwards much to the wiser. A few days later I recieved a bill in the post for £7, for the Ambulance would you believe it?. A couple of years ago I broke my little toe on my left foot and had to wear a slipper all the time for a couple of weeks, on reflection the pain from the broken toe was ten times worse than the collar bone or maybe I'm getting soft in my "old" age.
|
Re: What have you broken?
Do you still own the ambulance then?lol
|
Re: What have you broken?
No I kept to the bike after I straightened the bars which got bent as it collided with the herbalists shop half way down King Street.
|
Re: What have you broken?
Oooh I remember that herbalists. It was a brilliant shop. (thread wander - sorry Gayle)

Re: What have you broken?
Does a broken heart count then?
 |
Re: What have you broken?
Here's the list..
I have broken my left wrist twice, my left elbow, a finger on my right hand, my big toe on my right foot and the most recent was my right wrist. My right wrist was a real bind with being right handed.. It's difficult trying to wipe yer bum with your left hand.... I bet you all try it later though..:D |
Re: What have you broken?
Most fingers, both collar bones at the same time and my ankle.
|
Re: What have you broken?
I have been quite fortunate in that I have only managed 2 broken ribs so far in my life - but the circumstances are a little bizarre to say the least!
My former (deceased) wife weighed in at under 7 stone and just scraped past the 5 ft mark but decided that she wanted HUGE biceps to compensate so she started weight-lifting. She used plastic bottles filled with water, then sand and gradually increased the size of bottles. (she DID buy proper weights later on) and to prove her strength she would regularly swing a punch at my arm to see how much she could hurt me! As most men are probably aware, women are not very good in the aiming department and one day she caught me in the ribs instead of the arm and broke 2 ribs.:swear8: She was so full of remorse but seemed to take great delight still in making me laugh and anyone that has broken ribs will know how painful THAT is!! Two months later, she hit me in exactly the same place again and broke the same 2 bl***y ribs again! |
Re: What have you broken?
What wonderfull memories you have busman, at least by the sounds of it anyway ;)
|
Re: What have you broken?
Ive never broken anything either, i always wanted a broken leg because i thought it would be good to have crutches, it never happened though.
|
Re: What have you broken?
Fractured my scull on my 5th birthday party, my uncle dropped me on my head onto a parquet floor( old school hall) from about 6 feet up! was in a coma for 2 days when I came round I was hallucinating, I thought I was in a bed in a really busy supermarket. Neil blames my numbness on my head injury as a child.....................Least I got an excuse!!

Re: What have you broken?
High jump over the back of the settee it was suppose to be a soft landing but I jumped too far and hit the floor breaking my arm, I was lucky it wasn't my neck.

Re: What have you broken?
Broke a toe in a taxi once when he braked sharply and I shot forward. Didn't bother with the hospital, just strapped it to the next toe - works a treat!
I MAY have broken a small bone my foot once, when I was working at the Royal Free in the Orthopaedic Dept. Two X-rays, two Registrars, one Senior Reg, and they couldn't agree as to whether it was broken or not. It took the ex-nurse (me) to point out that the treatment was much the same anyway so it didn't matter! |
Re: What have you broken?
I've had all my ribs cut open for a quadruple heart bypass does that count?... |
Re: What have you broken?
Fortunately I haven't broken anything (touch wood), but I always wanted to see what it would be like using crutches at school for a few weeks!
In retrospect I am glad I didn't - it seems that anyone who has suffered a broken bone feels it later in life. My 3 year old daughter broke her collarbone at the beginning of the school summer holidays this year (mentioned elsewhere on Accyweb) |

Too right we feel it in later life. My wrists are really stiff and sore in winter. I'm sure that my last fracture didn't quite set right and I feel that one the most.. Hehehe, it wouldn't be so bad if I could play on it a bit and get someone else to do all the washing up, ironing, hoovering, carrying bags etc, but alas...........not a chance..:D |
