Our Dad had a very sick sense of humour ........... He once told us to try some meat that had been cooking, gullible lil sods that we were, we tried it THEN asked what it was .... talk about puke .... (after I'd gone to check that my own pet rabbits were still in their hutch) :(

Lovely stuff, rabbit.......its nice braised in red wine, with a few carrots, celery and simply served with mash.

Re: rabbit pie

We were regularly fed on Rabbit pie/stew......but my mother didn't call it rabbit.....she called it Lapin......so we ate it. It wasn't until about 1980 that I found out Lapin is french for Rabbit. We also had jugged hare.......I didn't like that and would not eat the meat......I would secretly feed it to the dog under the table or put it on my brothers plates when they weren't looking.....they would eat ANYTHING!
