Strange Grit bucket

Just nosied out of my side window & spotted this big yellow thing on the grass verge on the corner, it looks like a grit bucket & seems they've moved it up a lot closer than the corner of main road......pondering....... is it due to snow or bad frost soon?....do council know something we dont?.........or at last they remembered us cos they dont grit our roads anyway:confused: ....strange

it always amazes me that they still put out grit bins as if you grit outside your house or business and someone then falls on it, your insurance is liable but if they fall on the ice or snow then its an act of god!! madness eh

The Met Office have issued a warning to Emergency Planners that this winter is going to be the coldest for the last eight years, at least. It is apparently all to do with the North Atlantic Oscillation. Instead of the usual Westerly direction of winds which drive wet weather towards us in the winter, we are going to get predominantly South Westerly winds which means a cold and dry winter. get your winter woollies out now - you have been advised!

Look on the bright side, with the NAO in negative mode this probably means that this year's equinoctial gales, due later this month, will not be as severe as they have been of late. Pretty cold comfort, I do realise, but every cloud has a silver lining; you just have to know where to look for it.
