After reading this thread last night I got a craving for the chocolate covered toffee sweets that are in the picture on Romps' first post. I went up to the sweet shop in Ossy - it's one of those traditional style sweet shops that serves things out of jars - and then realised I couldn't remember what they were called. So, I tried to describe them and after looking at me blankly for a few minutes she worked out what I meant. Unfortunately, she didn't have any so I ended up going home with bon bons instead. Not quite as good!

PS - anyone can get a card for makro

does anyone remember Spearmint Straps......they were 1d each and were pale pink and were sort of indented with a waffle shape......mmmmm, loved 'em.

Yes, I used to buy beech nut from the sweetie shop next to the paper shop on Nuttall ST in Accrington.....used to use my school bus money and then had to 'run it' to Peel Park.

Oooh, you're not on about Imps are you. You can still buy them, I saw some in Skipton the other week.

I used to like cinder toffee, I remember spearmint straps, spangles, chewing nuts etc......Mmmmm, my mouth is watering.

Remember Space Dust? The disgusting stuff that used to explode in your mouth in the early 80's, and the little transfers that used to come with Bazooka chewing gum..:D

The Bazooka Joe was the pink stuff. You could buy it in a little rectangle pack or a long strip. It had a taste all of its own, but I can't describe it. I remember the germoline gum though..:D

i honestly dont know what my favourite is called , they look like very small chocolate cup cakes. they are in a brightly colored foil case and its half full with just plain chocolate, when i was little they had them everywhere and you could buy them for 1p each now you cant get them anywhere!!

can anybody remember the chocolate bar that cadburys brought out years ago, called secret it was wrapped in like a gold packet and the lettering was purple, inside the chocolate bar came in like a white sleeve and the chocolate bar was shredded chocolate and inside it was like a soft chocolate mousse?? i even remember the dvertisement for it on tv that is sad!! but everyone ive asked cant remember it!!
