Ronnie Barker Dies.

It was announced today that Ronnie Baeker or Two Ronnies Fame ane Porridge, has died peacfully at his home after sufferring from heart trouble ror many years. This man was a pure comic genious and had brought hours and hours of good, clean comedy into our homes for many years. He will be sadly missed on our screens. I just thougt that a man of his calibre should not be allowed to pass without a mention. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

A sad loss to his family and friends and to the entertainment industry. I loved his character Fletch in Porridge. Some of the 2 Ronnies series were brilliant. Who can forget 'the worm that turned' and 'the phantom raspberry blower of old London town.' "It's goodnight from me and it's goodnight from him." :)

I'm very saddened, one of the best exponents of situation comedy ever, for my money.

Oh, my goodness, that's so sad. He's one of these people that I always saw as timeless but I'm guessing he was in his mid to late seventies. A sad loss!

R.I.P Ronnie

Does anyone know where I could get four candles?

Re: Ronnie Barker Dies.

Is anyone else old enough to remember "The Navy Lark" on radio? Ronnie Barker played about 6 characters in it - all completely different. He was a brilliantly funny and clever man, wrote most of the Two Ronnies sketches himself, and he seemed a very nice man in private too.

Margaret Pilkington 04-10-2005 14:39

Re: Ronnie Barker Dies.

I feel like I have lost a dear old friend.......you think these people will go on forever.
I remember the Navy Lark, I loved him in Open all Hours......and the two Ronnies......the humour was sometimes a bit risque, but never so much so that it was offensive.

R.I.P Ronnie. I bet the Angels are having a good laugh.

A comic genius or should I say legend who as part of the Two Ronnies Porridge Open All Hours and others who made me laugh till my ribs hurt. There will never be another with such talent and wit who has never had anyone come close and is a big loss to comedy. May he make them laugh loud and cheery in the heavenly comic club.

Earlier today (elsewhere) someone said he should have four candles round his coffin.

He was so funny, so talented and never offensive. Like Margaret I feel like I've lost someone I knew personally. He will certainly be missed.

I can't help thinking that he would be amused by the funny things people instanty remember him by.

However will the "pople who have tribble with their worms and whose smeak in ****taken " cope without him?

What a sad loss, he was a great talent.

Re: Ronnie Barker Dies.

I loved those "news items" at the end of each show. I think Ronnie Barker was responsible for such classics as:

"News just in that two tankers have collided in the English channel. One was carrying blue paint, the other was carrying red paint. Both crews were marooned"

He retired in the late 80's from entertaining us but everybody still knows him and still loves the shows he did like porridge and open all hours. I know its because of the repeats but they were good shows - porridge was the best well i think so. We are going to miss him.

I was very sad to hear about his death yesturday, and last night I watched an episode of Porridge that I must have seen 10 times before and it's still funny!!! Will there ever be another Ronnie Barker??? I doubt it very much!!!:(

Re: Ronnie Barker Dies.

I watched the special thing they did on Ronnie Barker last night.

He was a very very funny man................he always made me laugh and some of the things last night did too.

I remember watching the awards a couple of weeks ago, and I thought he looked very poorly then.

He was a amazing man, and so talented.............and it shows, I mean after years and years and years, they are still replaying old episodes of porridge and other shows.
