Madness.

The next thing is they'll be banning pictures from council offces that have living things in them. Im Islamic art you can't portray anything which is living. In past times Muslims got round this by producing tiles otr rugs featuring birds etc. all of whom had their throats cut.

It'll be the office calender out the window next, featuring those offensive 'living' fluffy kittens.

There was recently the story of the Muslim cleaner of an art school in south London who objected to the displaying of students work on the wall while she worked, some of which featured gasp 'naked' life models. Thankfully she lost her case this time.

but it was a english woman who started it, she recieved a complaint from a muslim and started banning pigs from peoples offices apparantly now theres somebody trying to get plush toy pigs banned from ever being made!! its getting stupid!

PC gone mad......if you ask me. We are the host country.......if these people find our values, lifestyle and culture so horrible then why don't they move.
No one is forced to stay here.

In fact Trevor Philips.... the head of the CRE has said that we pussy foot around the sensibilities of the Ethnic minorities too much.......and that this attitude is responsible for causing alienation. He reckons that If all the large organisations didn't bend over backwards to ensure literature is printed in every Asian Language you can think of..... then these people would integrate better. A lot of the people that the literature is aimed at can't read the language anyway... this is especially true of the women.

What really gets me is that this local Muslim leader can say, in all seriousness -

"It's a tolerance of people's beliefs".

So what happened to tolerance of OUR beliefs? I was brought up on Winnie the Pooh - long before the majority of the poeple whose beliefs WE are expected to tolerate ever thought of living here.

Can we start a move amongst Accywebbers to revive the old Lancashire tradition of fattening a pig in the back yard? - there was a time when everybody kept a pig, fed it on the household leavings, and then killed it for food (link with Meat Stinks, anyone?). One family would kill their pig and share it out amongst the neighbours, and then the next pig to be killed would be shared out, etc, and so on. This is one of my beliefs, that we should be able to revive this. How much tolerance do you think I will get from our Muslim spokesman friend?

Where i work the only thing that matters is if you ar catholic or prodestant they dont worry about the rest. Its multi cultural multi lingual and for the most part we get on.

Spuggie I agree very much with that, my partner is from Greenock and I know he would really like to move back to Scotland at some point, the no no nonsense attitude is great, just not keen on women being kept in their place!

What a ridiculous notion. If anyone complained to me about having a photo, cuddly toy or figurine of a pig in my workplace, I would tell them where to get off... It is this so-called PC attitude that is completely ruining integration. I find it diffucult to believe that the wider Islamic community actually give a toss about the fact that some of us find pigs cute/tasty... I think that a lot of Moslems are probably just as peeved as we are with all this drivel...

I asked this question in work and people thought I had lost my marbles completely. When I explained why I asked the vast majority of replies cannot be printed here and of those of the faith in question they are confused as to why this has happened especially as it is a toy for children. Not surewhat the outcome will be but the way things are going is anything of a childs a childs anymore?

Couldn't agree more. No-one was asking anyone to eat the flippin pigs! We are talking about ornaments and cartoons!!

How that man has the gall to talk of tolerance when all that has been shown here is intolerance of the ways of the host country. When the first complaint was received the complainant should have been told to stop being so petty and stupid.

The same day this story was in the Daily Mail my daughter was looking for a phone charger and the shop we were in is owned and run by muslims. Amongst the bits and bobs on sale were phone covers featuring Piglet, and little Piglet dangly things to put on phones for decoration. These guys obviously had no problem with them.

Oh what a shame that we don't have a backyard.

Maybe the next AccyWeb meeting should be a hog roast?
