The NOA Doth Blow...

...And we shall have snow. And what will the Robin do then, poor thing?

I mentioned a couple of days ago that the Met Office has issued a warning to Emergency Planners of a severely cold winter ahead.

I was shocked to read this in the Times this morning...

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...819000,00.html

Time to stock up for winter, I think

Oh no!!!! I hate the cold. I'm running off to find some new, wooly jumpers now, just in case we run out of gas. :(

That article roughly translates to "expect huge energy price increases in the next month"

I hate cold weather too. I remember it being so cold at times that my face hurt with the wind. I really, really, really hate snow and ice. :(

I wish I could be as cynical as Janet, Roy & Wingy but I fear this is for real.

Well, let's look on the bright side eh.....? maybe if we get some really cold snaps it will kill off the bird flu virus that is supposed to be bearing down on us.

Re: The NOA Doth Blow...

Just found this on the MET office site.............................................. ...................................

A southwest then westerly flow will lead to well above average temperatures for most parts during the next 30 days. Amounts of rainfall will be above average in the northwest until mid month, with near average rainfall in the southeast. Above average rainfall is expected to affect England and Wales as well from mid month onwards. During the second half of the month the other feature is the wind, increasing to gale or severe gale force across many northern areas. The weather looks like quietening down at the end of October into November, especially across England and Wales. Temperatures are likely to stay above average, the rainfall dropping back to near average in most parts.

I think I will go with the element of surprise and just wait and see what this winter holds! How often have these long term forecasts been right?? In fact how often have the short term forecasts been correct???

Whatever happens, there is always something weather wise that causes havoc here so not expecting any different this year

Well my pine cone says it's going to be mild, damp and wet, and is usually more accurate than the Met's long term forecast.:)

I like the snow too. It only snowed once in London in 17 years, and in the three winters I had in Scotland I never so any white stuff at all.
