The NOA Doth Blow...
...And we shall have snow. And what will the Robin do then, poor thing?
I mentioned a couple of days ago that the Met Office has issued a warning to Emergency Planners of a severely cold winter ahead. I was shocked to read this in the Times this morning... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...819000,00.html Time to stock up for winter, I think |
Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
Oh no!!!! I hate the cold. I'm running off to find some new, wooly jumpers now, just in case we run out of gas. :(
|
Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
I'll believe it when i see it, looks like the government scare mongering again.
|
Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
That article roughly translates to "expect huge energy price increases in the next month"
|
Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
British Gas have already hiked there's up, just watch others follow suit!!
|
Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
I hate cold weather too. I remember it being so cold at times that my face hurt with the wind. I really, really, really hate snow and ice. :(
I wish I could be as cynical as Janet, Roy & Wingy but I fear this is for real. |
Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
Trust it to happen this year when I will be due to take my driving test.............
|
Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
Well, let's look on the bright side eh.....? maybe if we get some really cold snaps it will kill off the bird flu virus that is supposed to be bearing down on us.

Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
Just found this on the MET office site.............................................. ...................................
A southwest then westerly flow will lead to well above average temperatures for most parts during the next 30 days. Amounts of rainfall will be above average in the northwest until mid month, with near average rainfall in the southeast. Above average rainfall is expected to affect England and Wales as well from mid month onwards. During the second half of the month the other feature is the wind, increasing to gale or severe gale force across many northern areas. The weather looks like quietening down at the end of October into November, especially across England and Wales. Temperatures are likely to stay above average, the rainfall dropping back to near average in most parts. |

Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
I think I will go with the element of surprise and just wait and see what this winter holds! How often have these long term forecasts been right?? In fact how often have the short term forecasts been correct???
Whatever happens, there is always something weather wise that causes havoc here so not expecting any different this year  |

Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
Well my pine cone says it's going to be mild, damp and wet, and is usually more accurate than the Met's long term forecast.:)

I also love snow.............. to look at!! But hate driving or walking in the slush. What I do like walking in is the brand new fluffy snow, making the first footprint. ok now thats my confession on what gets me excited ...but I'm sure that should be on another thread!!!! ;) haha

Re: The NOA Doth Blow...
Coldest winter in about 10 years?Well it's not been that bad in ten years.Just as long as the gritters remember to come out like they did last year but forgot in previous years.
