Isaw Jesus, or a bloke with a beard, but Jesus was the first person I thought of when I saw it. Nice one!

Wow it's just a negative image of what Jesus is portrayed to look like. It's been doing the rounds for over 5 years.Good idea but no illusion.

Re: Have You Got 30 Secs To Spare ?

It isn't really a negative image of a face. It's just black splodges, but when you stare at it for any length of time and then look at a plain surface you "see" the opposite of what you've been staring at. So where you stared at black you see white and vice versa.

However, you interepret them as positive and negative images of a face because there is enough black in the "positive" image to give the impression of shadows and the shape of a face.

The illusion part comes in because you actually "see" more detail in the positive image than is actually there. Check it by looking at how little there actually is to see in the negative.

Your brain recognises something familiar which looks like parts of positive image and automatically fills in the rest. (Much the same as it does with "spotty dog in the snow")
