Poor service

My daughter and I went christmas shopping today in Blackburn. We were going for a specific item but as usual we wandered round the other shops. In one store we spotted a 28" TV for £139 my daughter asked if they had them in stock & was told yes. We went to get the cash to pay for it. On our return we approached a member of staff & told him we wanted to purchase the T.V we were asked to join the queue and he would get one for us, which we did. The queue was quite long and moving slowly so we expected said T.V to be there when it was our turn. Wrong. The TV was nowhere in sight but the man supposedly getting it was bringing goods for other people who were behind us in the queue! When I mentioned this to the lady on the counter, she asked him if he had got our T.V to which he replied no we dont have any in stock! We asked if we could have the one on display, he said yes & disappeared again when I looked round he was tidying up at the other end of the store! I again asked if we were going to get the T.V & was asked if I would mind keeping my voice down by a member of staff quite a few yards away. I kept my temper in check and asked again. The man then appeared and took our money but left the empty box behind the counter & made to disappear again. When I questioned this I was asked if I wanted security calling!!!! My reply was 'yes if they would bring the T.V'. I then asked for an address where I could write to so I could express my disgust at the service. The woman then turned and said you will have to fill out a form for a T.V licence and as far as she was concerned we had nothing to complain about! I don't believe waiting for over an hour to buy a T.V, for cash, that was on the shop floor, good service do you ?

Re: Poor service

Sounds like they could not be bothered and the TV offer meant they had to do a bit of work. A customer has the right to be treated promptly and respect regardless of how the staff feel. Threatening to get security is no way to retain or gain customers. Me i would have got my cash back and kicked up unholy hell to show other potential customers what they were letting themselves in for.

:(

i agree...as someone who works behind the counter i understand that the customer is THE most important factor!!! if your not satisfied...kick up a fuss..fair enough if its a genuine mistake then i think were all entitled to one or two, but from the sounds of it you where left on the backburner. so next time remember that its you whose paying their wages!!

I would write to the head office. Try addressing it to the Marketing Director or the Chief Executive, both of them would be quite interested to know what's happening. Remember, you're paying their wages too!

Yes Spuggie.....I bought a large hard bodied suitcase.....only used it on one trip and the lock broke......I went back and complained......they couldn't have cared less. It wasn't a great amount of money......but it makes me thing twice before buying anything again.

Re: Poor service

Margret regardless of cost you are entitled to the item being of usable quality and sturdy enough for the use it has been made for. Never mind management i would try trading standards after creating unholy hell.

Like everyone else has said Debbie, name and shame 'em.

Sounds appalling service.

Re: Poor service

Service?

None at all there as far as I can see.

I would certainly write to the Head Office and complain. Unfortunately a lot of Head Offices deal with complaints by sending the letter back to the store being complained about and getting them to deal with it!

If they do that, I would complain about that too.

Re: Poor service

Spuggie.....I tried all the usual things and in the end gave up......I got more than 30 quids worth of hassle.....and I really didn't need it. The case failed on the trip out to Australia......and we were there for 6 months.....that complicated things......and I had to buy a new case while I was out there......and I didn't bring the broken evidence back with me......that too complicated things. In the end I just gave up.......I wouldn't buy anything else like that there. I might buy pots and pans but nothing electrical or mechanical.
They don't know the meaning of customer service.

Re: Poor service

It was a good job the case had two straps round it or my knickers would have been on the luggage carousel at Melbourne Airport......not a pretty sight.

SPUGGIE J 13-10-2005 17:44

Re: Poor service

Dont think I would buy pots or pans there because any grief and they would be sporting them as the latest in headgear fashion.

:D  :D
