Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
A good read this week.:)
No complaints except for another full page of people's pets, in 'whose a pretty boy competiton', is rather boring. |
Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
The biggest laugh in this week's edition came from an advertisement.
A new shop is being launched that will sell shoes worn by such 'celebrities' as Abbi Titmus, Kate Laler and Jade Goody. I will of course be camping out this weekend, with my 10% off voucher from the paper, so I too can be shod like the above celebrities.:) |

Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
The one that caught my eye was "Council boss quits in council leader dispute" seems like the council boss was responsible for taxi licences and advised the cabinet that the taxi's with tinted / darkened windows should be banned. So the cabinet banned that type of taxi. Understandable I thought, you don't know who or what is waiting inside the taxi, but complaints from a taxi driver to our leader prompted the overturn of the ban by our leader, the net result is that a council boss has resigned.
Anymore thoughts on this |

Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
I'm sorry to mention things in the latest edition when people don't get their copy until Friday. I used to have to wait for a well thumbed copy on Saturday, but now I treat myself on Thursday evening.
At least I will be the first in the queue for the come f**k me shoes,at that new shop.;) |

Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
Go on Gayle, we're rooting for you!
By the way, I've not viewed the posts on here for a while, am I right in thinking that Vitty is a reporter on the Ob? Can he give us some insight into the way newspapers work? I was wondering about the front page story on the murder charge being dropped. It was on the front of the Telegraph on Thursday, but the Ob has an 'Exclusive' under it. How does that work? Maybe I should learn never to trust newspapers!? And on that note, poor old Dorothy MacGregor of Maundy Grange. She's a great part of the community here in Hyndburn, but all she seems to get is stick for trying to help. Leave her alone I say! Apart from that the Ob's a good read. |
Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
Yes Dillon, Vitty works for the Observer. He's been quite up front about it, unlike some.

Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
Thank you Park, you’re a gentleman. Gayle best of luck, it’s a positive peace that plants a nice seed in peoples minds.

Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
I had to snigger at this week's Mr Angry, who claims that he never uses tired cliches. What on Earth does he call 'it really makes my blood boil' then??????:D
|
Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
A rallying call for the blood transfusion service.

Re: In this Friday's Accrington Observer (11 Nov...)
Yes, most happy at the piece in the paper about me today - nice to be so newsworthy!
Not just me in the paper though, my son's snuck in there. He's on the school page as he goes to Heathland Nursery and the preschool of their nursery are put in together with the reception class of the school part. He's the cute button on the front row far left. |

'Not' the same sort of cliche was what I really meant ... was multi-tasking trying to find me favourite lipstick and knowing it's in a place I last used it !!
