There are some suggestions for takeaways but I want someware who can do a good piece of free range steak. Plenty of flavour as most meat is bland now. As for a cup of tea aint a clue I always have my brew at Trickets in the Market Hall.

Good question:

The Observer's 'Pug Grub' section is coming to an end, as we have covered almost every pub in our circulation area.

Afterwards, I think we are doing a 'best fod' prize to th place that got the highest ratings.

It should be around the last week of the year.

Frey Brentos ... yuk !! Nah, was away in Manchester on a 'girls'' night out at the time ... so nowt in oven .. just general protest by an inaminate object I reckon, against abuse of its purpose in life. Anyway, back to thread .. not sure really, all a matter of taste, don't you think ?? I like weak tea .. some people like it strong, some people like loads of butter on sandwiches, some nowt, some folks love pasta .. I hate. Can't really generalise on this question, can you ?? The question has really gotta be who has the most adaptablity to peoples' tastes, n'est pa ?

I will try most things apart from the mother in laws cooking. Even rats and pidgeons would turn their nose up at it. :)

Also, would invite my daughter .. could top the pair of us .. must be in the genes. She already destroyed thee micro waves this year. !!

Spuggie - you remind me of Tony Hancock's line -

"I thought my mother was a bad cook, but at least her gravy moved about a bit".

It's true, though, some people just can't cook, however hard they try.

Lets put it this way who puts water in a steak pie instead of gravy.
I rest my case.

Re: who cooks the best meal in accrington?

Confused Spuggie ... don't you always put water in steak pie 'cause then the goodies comes out of the steak to make good stock. Can't put gravy in because you have to get this from previous water + meat ..... help !!!!

SPUGGIE J 24-11-2005 20:27

Re: who cooks the best meal in accrington?

The pie was already cooked but the meat was a bit dry so she put water in the pie instead of gravy.

I think Trickets in the market hall makes a great cuppa. If your a regular you rarely have to ask for what you want as they remember. Not sure about a steak though the cafe in the arcade do nice meals

My wife's steak pie is to die for.

I am blessed with a wife who is a fantastic cook (she takes after her mum, but she is definitely an improved version!!!).

The only people in our house who don't always appreciate this are the kids. Perhaps they should live with my mother for awhile and sample really bad cooking...

My daughter hates her grans cooking. Always has a sore stomach when she is there. The women wont take the hint, and she would rather her gramps cooked.
