No, it's true. HBC can't afford a real celebrity so we have to make do with a pale pastiche.

It doesn't even say on Hyndburn life the name of the Robbie Williams licky-likey, so we can't judge how good or bad he is.:(

Take your petrol lighters for Angels, as it looks like we are in for a windy night.

I've been dreading tonight all week.... They tend to launch the fireworks off the top of the Arndale, which means that they explode almost over the top of my house. The dog will be going mad.
I actually went last year, in order to escape the house and the madly barking dog. It was freezing, heaving and almost impossible to walk down Broadway without getting assaulted by people's elbows as they tried to get past.
I will be giving it a miss, I don't see how this borough, with all of our debts, can afford to spend thousands on fireworks or fake Robbie look alikes....:D

Re: towncentre light switch on

Why did they not get all (or even some) of the Stanley team to switch on the lights? It would have been a bit of extra publicity for them and a reminder that the town has a team that is on the verge of returning to it's historic place in the football league proper. And it would have cost nowt.

Give him his dues, he did big up Stanley in his column last week, and encouraged people to go to support them.

He even said he was going himself last Friday, but because the Ultras didn't sing their song about him I don't know if he was there or not.;)

i cant see how finding a robbie williams look alike will be expensive..

it cant be too hard to find a fat tallentless drug addict to flick a switch for a few quid

as for the fireworks

alas not even my super soaker water gun will reach the arndale from here, dont get me wrong i love fireworks but only when ime the one playing with them :D

Just got back from the event. Robbie lookalike did look a little bit like him and for the eight year old girls in the crowd who thought it was the real thing it was obviously a treat. I on the other hand was not impressed. Plus, the cold was biting. We left after a short while and went to McDonald's where we saw the fireworks in all their glory whilst in the warmth - that's the way to do it!

Just got warm from going to the switch on. It wasn't too bad my little 'un enjoyed it until he needed a pee due to the cold. We went to Arndale the loos were shut, could understand that with the fireworks. But whose bright idea was it to shut the main loos on Accys busiest night of the year? I think our 'esteemed' leader should be sent with mop bucket and strong bleach to the wall down the side of the loos. As its ok if your a bloke!

Not when its cold it aint, frost bite down there would be a bit of an inconvenience in more ways than one and would take a lot of expalaining. :o

No doubt the loo’s where locked to keep out the shooters, muggers and lifters out, notwithstanding that statement I think a community warden or two stationed in the immediate would have allowed the good people of the town to pee in peace.
However, thanks Gayle but photo’s of the peeing public don’t do it for me, but no doubt we can expect that next year we will have a woman of substance and position in situ to insure that the loos are open for business….

Yes he was there. When I went in the bar just before half time he was in there keeping warm. Whether he actually watched any of the match I dunno cos the poor bloke wasn't allowed into VIP area!!! :p

There’s a sign of a hormonal imbalance if I ever read one. I have a dog, what more would I need for genuine affection…Don’t worry yourself, when you find yourself at the right end of a very short queue you’ll find the door closed and firmly bolted.
