Such a sad life I lead...

Strictly Come Dancing - Patsy and Anton are out - about time - James to win!
I'm a Celebrity - Bobby Ball is out - three cheers - Jimmy to win!
X - Factor - so sad that Chico's out - I don't care who wins, oh all right if I have to say, then let Journey South win!

......and this was my Saturday night!

That's why I need politics in my life! lol

garinda 03-12-2005 22:28

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Saddo here too.:)

Chico time over, though on tonight's performance Andy should have gone. He's brilliant at Nat King Cole, but that's about it. Shane to win.

Zoe to win Strictly Come Dancing.

Celebrity, couldn't care less, it's even to poor for this popular culture junkie to watch.:)

Tinkerbelle 03-12-2005 22:29

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Sometimes I just wanna slap the British public for the way they vote and I have to say tonight is one of those nights!!!

I'd better keep this post short I feel a rant coming on!!! :(

Sheree to win celeb and Shane to win X Factor

Bad-Wolf 03-12-2005 22:30

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Chicco, hah, good riddance!

Gayle 03-12-2005 22:33

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Actually, yes, I'd be happy for Zoe to win SCD - I'm not as bothered about that as the others. Don't think I'll be watching X-Factor again, to be honest, the world need's Chico's in it or it would be such a dull place.

PS - I didn't pick up the phone to vote once for anyone of them - I'm not that sad!

garinda 03-12-2005 22:36

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

I have only seen one Celebrity, and was impressed with Sheree. I thought she'd be a really dipsy, air-head, ex-soap star/footballer's wife, infact she seems a really sound person.

Gayle 03-12-2005 22:39

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

I didn't even know who she was - I only pieced it together because she was talking about Harry, then Liverpool, and had a wedding ring on! Is she 'famous' in her own right?

garinda 03-12-2005 22:41

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Yeah, she played Lorraine Chase's daughter in Emmerdale, who became a Bollywood star but sadly died.

The everyday tale of Yorkshire folk.

'Welcome to Mumbai, were you wafted here from paradise?'

'Nah mate, Leeds/Bradford airport.'

Gayle 03-12-2005 22:46

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Nooooooo - a Bollywood star - I wish I'd watched that - what a fab storyline.

I've never watched Emmerdale so didn't know!

Didn't know who Anthony Costa was either but he mentioned Blue early on and I've heard of them.

WillowTheWhisp 03-12-2005 23:47

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Sheree was in Emmerdale before Lorraine Chase wasn't she? I remember seeing her in it as Marlon's girlfriend but I haven't watched it in ages.

I have to confess that I've voted for Jimmy but that's only because he's a member of our church stake and a nice guy. I would never have believed he'd have gone in for something like this and I have to admire his nerve. I couldn't do it. Laughed at his cry of "Oh Nellie bellie" as he shot up that rope!

SCD winner would have to be Zoe Ball as I have to admit being a fan of here's.

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

OMG what sad little lives all of you people really do seem to have!

I have an excellent life! Not sad in anyway at all pmsl.

Right I am off to the Doctor Who convention Bye!

harwood red 04-12-2005 13:32

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Sid to win I'm a celebrity
Colin to win SCD (about time a man won it, it's harder for them anyway as they have to take the lead)
Not sure who I want to win X-factor as I like all those who are left in

Gayle 04-12-2005 16:38

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

So, I'm not the only one who has nothing better to do on a Saturday night!!!!

In my defence it is because I have two small children and I'm pretty sure it's illegal to leave them home alone. lol

SPUGGIE J 04-12-2005 17:35

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Gayle think of the money saving the kids give you because you cant go out. Very kind of them isnt it giving you something without a fuss. :)

Debbie J 04-12-2005 20:00

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Don't watch SCD but Zoe to win as I like her.
Carol to win IAC as even though she sounds very posh she's as common as muck. Up until last night I liked Sheree but she showed her true colours by tittle tattling about Carol and her wind.
X factor Brenda to win I think she's been really good week in week out. I wasn't too keen on Chico as he used kids & others as props, though he was fun.

garinda 04-12-2005 22:04

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

I agree with Harwood Red it would be great if Colin Jackson wins as well. It is harder for the male celebs, and he is brilliant.

Chico was tacky but he was fun. Watchout he'll be the new Cheeky Girls, and all the kids'll be doing the 'What time is it?' dance in the New Year.

Come on folks, just honed in on a few of the last few broadcasts, does any one of the last finalists really have the X-Factor ?? with all the professionals around, I don't think so.

garinda 04-12-2005 22:53

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Oh Kate I disagree. Brenda will be a disco diva. I love Simon's and Sharon's comments about Louis being the first one to buy her album, it's not widely known but he is gay. Also laughed at Simon's remark that he knows Louis would love to get to grips with Shane, which had Sharon in stitches.

Shane too will go on to great things.

katex 04-12-2005 23:15

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Not arguing that they will not make a big slice of crust due to all this, but will still disagree on the point that none of them have X-FACTOR. What has Simon and Sharon's comments to do with a bunch of soldiers anyway ?? Brenda .. good voice, needs to change the image though... two brothers, gettin' on a bit now... the coloured ballad singer, two a penny and not particular good looking. Shayne well , yes probably will win, fairly distinctive voice .. but don't quite trust him after the Will Young revelation .. felt he cheated all the voters somehow.

chav1 04-12-2005 23:36

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

i said the same thing last night about those two - too old

the black guy - lamar springs to mind its like every series has a black guy with a good voice

every single one of them would never make it in the music industry simply because they arnt good enough , its only coz they have the backing of the likes of simon cowell after the show who can pump thousands of pounds into promoting them and getting them airtime that they will ever sell a record

fortunatly i only have to see this trash when i have no say in the tv but i can assure you the only time it appears on my tv is if i am channel surfing

garinda 05-12-2005 07:19

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Lmar from Fame Acadmey went on to win a few MOJO's so that's one guy who is still reaping the benefits of a talent show, as is Alex Park, whose new album is fantastic.

Kate's comment about cheating the public? If that refers to Will Young's sexuality, then he didn't, he was already out. He was on a talent contest, he came out every week to sing and the public liked his talent and voted him the winner. His career is still going from strength to strength, as well as a new album out he is starring in the film Mrs Henderson Presents with Judi Dench.

As for Shane, if I remember from the VT about his home life he has a girlfriend, though I do admit every bloke with a Mancunian accent does sound a bit soft.

I think Will Young is fabulous - I never watched the first series of pop idol so didn't know he was even on it until much later.

Well, seems the publicity was incorrect about Will Young then, as there were many opinions as to why he didn't come out before in the press and comments as to how he cheated the young girls who always fantasize about being with their heroes. Never liked him since.
However, sincere apologies for digressing on this subject ..no matter how past candidates have fared in the past, still do not think any of them left have anything new or special to offer. :p
As to the celebrity thing .. well, 9 o'clock was the time when all the best dramas, docs, series were presented on ITV.. just about finished my daily chores by then and looked forward to these offerings. Now, blooming 1 and 30 minutes of has-beens eating slugs, etc., every night !!!Thank gawd for the other channels.

Well I'm afraid I will have to strongly disagree on Wills behalf. The talent show he was on, like the X-Factor now, wraps it's contestants in a bubble. They aren't allowed to speak to the press. Will was out to all the other contestants, and all the people who ran the show. He didn't lie that he had a girlfriend in the short VT tapes they show about their homelives. Short of doing what he was being judged on, ie: sing, whilst wearing 'I'm a homo' t-shirt, I don't know what else he could have done.

I've been to a couple of his concerts, which were great, and a fair percentage of the audience was made up of screaming young girls, who obviously didn't appear to feel cheated at all.

Interestingly Alex Park, was outed in the press, which was a bit late as she was already out to her friends and family as a lesbian, yet went on to win by a massive margin on Fame Academy. It looks like the majority of people do phone in their votes based on talent, and not on petty minded prejudices.

If you want to know of a very well known entertainer, who could be accused of cheating his fans for the last forty years, pm me and I'll tell you what I saw him up to in a bar in Amsterdam.

SPUGGIE J 05-12-2005 18:22

Re: Such a sad life I lead...

Does the pressure these people endure lead to them hiding something then yes. They are as entitled to a private life as we are and they dont want it dragged out in the press because to do so leaves them with the normal life the rest of us take for granted. What would happen to shows that make stars of talented people if they were allowed no privecy? Do we benifit from knowing their private lives if all we are looking for is a scandle. Put yourself in their shoes and imagine how you would feel and then say it would be worth it. Those who get a hit of these revelations are the ones who keep driving the press to dig up more.
