Red, white or pink?

So what's your favourite wine?

I've just caught on to the delights of a good Pinot Grigio but used to be a Chardonnay girl!

Never, ever touch red because it gives me a headache!

garinda 03-12-2005 22:45

Red. Though chaep red plonk makes your teeth purple.

Does it also affect your typing skills? lol

Lol, looks like it did.^

Which means I perhaps should have had a drink tonight!

Don't pick on the shakey, one handed typist though. You don't want to loose the disabled vote.;)

Re: Red, white or pink?

cant stand wine and the worst thing that can happen in the way of drinks is if at a party some wanna be wine expert brings out their home made wine made from onion skins or somthing else that should have realy been put straight into the bin

geoff70 04-12-2005 03:48

well our chav im dissapointed i thought maybe there was irish blood pumping through your veins ...the best thing to do when the finest vintage gets offered to you at a party is grab that bad boy by the neck and sink it in one....

Re: Red, white or pink?

I'm a big fan of Spanish Rioja. Obviously being from the family that I am, I can and will drink any and all wine, but my preference is Red.

Can't drink wine, one glass gives me a migraine. Budweiser has the same effect even though I have Irish blood in me :)

Re: Red, white or pink?

I only drink Chilean Red I seem to have developed a liking for it and never was a wine fan until a few years ago. Wonder if age has anything to do with it.

Re: Red, white or pink?

why spuggie i do belive you're comparing yourself to wine here ..and what happens to wine when it gets older???

SPUGGIE J 04-12-2005 08:52

Re: Red, white or pink?

Depends on wether it has been opened or not. :D
Think as I am getting older my tastes are changing either that or I am mellowing.

i like peasporter best ...or leibfremilch (cant spell it )

I love red wine. My favourites are Wolfblass yellow label, Eaglehawk. Rosemount is excellent, as is Lindeman's. I love a nice Shiraz but also like Merlot. I used to be strictly a white wine girl but have seriously gone off it....:D

Hey gayle, poll will only let you choose one colour, can I go back and vote again, will drink any colour of wine....:D been trained well by the golfing mates, a visit to a supermarket abroad and find the cheapest you can,but you have to drink it, the record at the moment is 1.2euro.
A nice dry white, or a full red, don't matter what the price is, if it tasts good to you, then it is good.

Def a red wine girl.... and have to agree with Roy regarding the spanish rioja. If you get a good crianza mix then you can't beat it, Mmmmmm. also am pretty fond of an australian shiraz too

i have had half a bottle of a nice cabernet- syrah ( red) with my evening meal ...... then was summoned to the stag .......went on low c ...... but i do like a nice white wine too dryish but slightly fruity.

entwisi 05-12-2005 06:56

Re: Red, white or pink?

I love wine but I can't say one colour or another. Each has its moment. A really cold, crisp white is lovely with fish/chicken or on a hot sunny day. Rose again on a hot day or as an easy drinking wine in front of the telly. Red wines for when I want something with bite or with a nice piece of meat(duck/steak)

Favourite wine has to be between Chateau Neuf du Pape or a good St Emilion. I was lucky enough to try a vintage Margaux a few years ago(£45 bottle wholesale!) and it was awesome but I can't justify that much on one bottle. A nice bottle of Beaujolais Villages kept really cold and drunk long with plenty of ice is cracking on a sunny day
Whites are chablis/muscadet/soave. I can't stand medium or sweet wines. You will NEVER find a bottle of Libfraumilch in my house!
Rose are a nice compromise, I do tend to prefer the darker rose and I'm looking for a blackcurrent/berry type flavour in them. sort of alcy fruit juice :)

We tend to buy from the Wine Warehouse mail order but I'm just ordering a case from Laithwaites that was advertised in the paper. Its a nice dozen selection with C-NdP and ST E, Chablis and other good robust wines for £60

Casa La Joya Merlot. Need to get my mits on some for crimbo. :D

Re: Red, white or pink?

I like a drink, though when its win it always has to be red! White always gives me a headache and the "pink" stuff always tastes like something of the pop man!

Though given the choice I would prefer a Whiskey!

Blended or Malt Wolfie?

Bad-Wolf 05-12-2005 13:14

Malt, I quite like Genmorangie and Glenfidich. I would try other malts but unfortunatly my wallet will not let me do so at the minute!

SPUGGIE J 05-12-2005 13:23

Re: Red, white or pink?

If it stretches then Glenkinchie Craggenmore Talisker Oban Dalwinnie or Lagavulin.

Ah well in that case I will have a pop to the shops when I finish my bottle!

I only go through one a week so I will give them a look in at the weekend!

pendy 05-12-2005 13:29

Re: Red, white or pink?

Prefer red wine, because white wine has to be expensive to taste good. I do admit to a strong partiality for champagne. I loathe sweet wine of any kind - my absolute nightmare is to be forced to drink Lambrusco (especially red Lambrusco). We get most of our wine from Laithwaites, a bit more expensive than the supermarket, but really good value, also it beats carrying it home. Must admit to getting through rather a lot of it, though .... hic.

I use to be the same, but like I said earlier I think it’s an age thing. It's safer than faster cars and younger women, neither of which we can handle the same as we use too.
