Re: recommend me a new hobby for 2006
Hi - how about bread-making I have tried it yes and I got a lot of satisfaction out of it, especially from making tomato and cheese and onion bread. :)
Also a really good hobby is home brew making. There are many, many different brews and wines and its taste and affects twenty times better than commercial beer. Not to mention its a hell of a lot cheaper in the long run. :D |
Re: recommend me a new hobby for 2006
Stock car racing. Nothing beats the roar of the engine & the smell of the fuel. You can also make some good mates as they are a friendly bunch. You can go to as many/few meetings as you like.

Re: recommend me a new hobby for 2006
You could try fencing - with epees and not wooden posts. Great exercise!

golf is a waste of a good walk ! and cheers spuggie for giving us 'weegies a bad name !' - its bad enough thanks !! and gayle - when you say crochet - do you mean sewing/knitting or croquet ? - the lawn game ?? - either way no chance ! - and nice pic - nothing like a woman in a uniform !!!! |

how about doing voluntary work - you would be doing some good then helping people out and it gives you an interest and you meet different people. I do voluntary work our local credit union and school.

Frottage.
All you need are wax crayons and some paper. You could have fun in grave yards and churches all over the country. |

Re: recommend me a new hobby for 2006
My hobbies are Family History and Photography. I'm really interested in searching out those lost folk and it does tend to take up a lot of spare time. I also transcribe for FreeBMD.
I don't have access to a dark room now but developing photos was such a great thing for me. Especially black and white. I now have a blog, which makes me use the camera more, even though it's a digital...............still not sure that I approve of those! Have fun with which ever idea takes your fancy! |
Re: recommend me a new hobby for 2006
I agree with you Junetta, family tree stuff can become addictive. I,ve been at it for about 8 years and still get a kick from finding a new "skeleton".

Re: recommend me a new hobby for 2006
Yes I meant crochet (knitting) it was only a joke because Spuggie said we shouldn't give someone from Glasgow a weapon when I'd first suggested fencing.
They do Scuba diving at Mercer Hall in Gt Harwood. |
