What was the first tune you paid for yourself

My 7 year old 'helped out' in his Grandads shop on Sunday and was given £3 wages. I asked him what he was going to do with the money, he didn't even think about it. Today he took his 'hard earned' cash and bought Shane Wards Thats my goal cd. What was the first record you bought?
Mine was Bye Bye Baby by the Bay City Rollers! Glad to say my taste in music has changed since then.

First record I bought was Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc. They weren't the trendy option at the time but I was really into them - parents took me to their concerts when I was about 14 - seriously uncool at the time. Every now and then I still listen to them and they stand the test of time.

But I have eclectic tastes and still sing along to Bye Bye Baby by the Bay City Rollers so I'm not the best of judges when it comes to music.

Last CD I bought for myself was Dean Martin - see what I mean!

Why Does It Always Rain On Me? by Travis was the first single i bought for myself in '99 when i was10/11.
Wasnt realy into buying music for myself before that, just listening to the latest tunes on the radio coming back from Blackpool or wherever in the car. First song I remember hearing though was Roll With It by Oasis in the summer of '95, magic :D

An Everley Brothers Single.....but it is so long ago now that I have forgotten what it was called. I played it over and over and over again. My dad got so fed up with listening to it that he cut the plug off my Dansette record player!

April Fools, I can't remember the Artist but she was female. I bought it off Accrington Market in about 68/69. I still have somewhere with the rest of the Black Stuff which is probably warping in my mothers loft.

My first record that I remember buying was Hands Up by Ottowan, I bought it second hand from the car boot sale that used to be at spring hill school a long time ago.

The Greatest Hits Of Elvis Presley bought from Woolies in the summer of '64. It was only about 12/- (60p) which seemed a real bargain, as albums were around 32/- (£1.60) in those days. As I examined it on the way home I noticed that it was on Woolies' own cheapo Embassy label and then I saw in very small print the words "As performed by Danny Storm & the Tempests". An early lesson in the wicked ways of the world!

I remember it very clearly............'I Want to Be Bobby's Girl'. I can't recall who sang it but I bought it for my Mum. It took me ages to save up for it and it always makes me smile when I hear it now.

Susan Maughn, Junetta. Mine was Lonely Blue Boy at a second hand record shop in Burnley. I like yours though Grannyclaret, Lonnie is still one of my favourites.
