Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
Ive just reserved a microwave to pickup today for £24.99
So if you see anybody in town today carrying one, its me :D Last one i had, i sprayed in some of that power cleaning stuff from the £1 shop, said it was ideal for microwaves etc and it blistered all of the inside of it. Got trading standards involved but because my microwave was over 12 months old they couldnt do anything about it. They did do tests on their microwaves with it, but am wondering if theirs was stainless steel. What bargains have you seen / got ? |
Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
Do bear in mind that most/ a lot of companies buy in a load of old tat for the sale from their supliers, and get round the law by putting it for sale at one of their shops at an inflated price before the sale, and then show the slashed price quite legally.
It always makes me laugh when people ask is it in the sale? Always try and think is it worth the price to me, rather than think you are getting a bargain just because it was in a sale, and therefore a bargain price. It won't always be the case. |
Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?

Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
Sale’s are out for me I’m afraid, although I was hoping to buy some walking kit. A small bump in the car on New Years Eve as just costs me £1292.74p. I wouldn’t mind but I only went two foot……..

I was busy putting my seat belt on before reversing out of the drive, at the same moment I turned the ignition on and depressed the pedal. There was a light bang as I hit the steering wheel (I hadn’t quite got the seat belt on and I’ve got leather seats) and I noticed I’d gone forward instead of backwards. Needless to say I’m not a happy bunny, before anyone asks it was 7.30 p.m. and I had not been drinking |
Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
Oh dear Doug i bet you are well annoyed one bit of loss of concentration & thats it gee still its rather expensive the car must of sustained quite a bit of damage:eek:
I bet you will be checking your gears from now on on lol:D |
Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
My sympathies, Doug. That's exactly the sort of thing that used to happen to me...which is why around 5 years ago I gave up driving and handed the car over to Mrs. H. Can't say I've missed it too much, although getting back to Stockport from Stanley night matches can sometimes be a bit hairy!

Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
Cheers Wynonie, I had a side wall puncher the day before and had to pay out £99 for a tyre. Just my luck. I don’t think I could give up my car voluntary it took me long enough to start driving in the first place. It takes me to the Lakes once, sometimes twice a week so I can walking and brings me over to Accrington at least once a week and this will no doubt increase to twice or more when the team play at home….
I will attempt to make good my losses by offering six places from Blackpool for the match on the 21st. Each place is on offer at a reasonable £100 each way. Combatants must provide there own safety gear and hold a valid certificate of life insurance……Just so I can’t be had over for thread wandering I’m going to offer the first two places at £99 pounds, how’s that for a bargain. |

Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
I can't understand how people have money left over after Christmas to spend on Sales. Where am I going wrong ??
Doug: first time I have had experience of a guy admitting a stupid error in his driving .. that takes guts ... will give you a Karma thingy for that :) |
Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
Oh bad luck Doug, still at least no-one was hurt.
I got some bargains today but not exactly earth shattering. Got a nice little handbag for £5.99 and some bath bombs which had been reduced TWICE! |

I did buy some really nice cotton, linen look, trousers today for £4.99, which will look good with my best shoes, which were £2.00 from Tommy Balls, complete with box!]
Bargains aren't always covered with red tickets shouting SALE, as both trousers and shoes were bought non sale. It pays to shop around, and decide on somethings worth to you, not just some retailer's ploy to get rid of old stock. |
Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
I hate sales with a passion, far too mad for me. I tend to wait till the end but I think it's only ever a bargain if it's something I really need.

Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
I won a brand new pair of jeans yesterday, with tags still attatched for £2.50 plus £2.00 postage on ebay !

Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
I got some boots before Christmas, originally £50 but the ticket said reduced to £20. When I came to pay for them, they were only £15, which is not bad for real suede with sheepskin lining. Only trouble is, they are red, and David keeps making remarks about "Santa's little helper". (I have two other pairs of boots, but they were in Ossy and I was in London, so I did need them 'cos it was snowing.)
If you want real bargains, forget the sales and haunt the charity shops. Where else could you get a pure wool Windsmoor suit in perfect condition for £6? |
Re: Have You Picked Up A Bargain In The Sales ?
Wonder if I can get a cheap partner at the sales.
