EEEk!!
Err, I'm sat here waiting for a call from BRI while they find me a bed, Suspected appendicitis
Ah well, I'm just going out, I may be some time............... |
Re: EEEk!!
HEHE good luck finding a bed
|
Re: EEEk!!
Ah its only a straight forward procedure that, ask for instructions and do it yourself, you'll have recovered by the time they find a bed there :)
|
Re: EEEk!!
hope it goes well ian ............... i will have a spare bed i can send them .... by tea -time .........ha ha ha. new bed coming this avo...
|
Re: EEEk!!
Good luck, whatever you do don't let them attach the electrodes :s_veuze:
|
Re: EEEk!!
Good luck Ian, Hope your sorted out soon mate, does it hurt?
|
Re: EEEk!!
Good luck Ian. Hope they find you a bed asap.
|
Re: EEEk!!
Thanks everyone, its a bit strange Doug, its a constant niggly pain that absolutely sodding kills if I cough, laugh or some doctor prods it!
Now my dilema, If I stay overnight in an NHS hospital my company private heathcare pay an overnight allowance OR I can be moved to Beardwood hospital but I don't get teh allowance. £50/night isn't to be sniffed at for doing nowt but I'd feel guilty about taking up a bed that someone else could use..... |
Re: EEEk!!
I bet the facilities at beardwood outweigh £50 :p
Go for it! |
Re: EEEk!!
It's your body, so it’s your choice. You’ve got an NHS bed by right and personally I’d use it…Having said that it comes down to how vital your treatment becomes if the risk factor increases the choice between money or comfort becomes irrelevant.
Consider this; you can have a night of comfort and pampering when you get home. Following which when your feeling better, you can go out and treat yourself and your good lady to 50 quid’s worth of whatever you fancy… Now about this pain when you laugh? Have you heard the one about……………….:) |
Re: EEEk!!
tinks is the expert on that subject,,,shame you wernt in at the same time,,, she WOULD have made you laugh
|
Re: EEEk!!
Take the £50 and don't worry about the bed......let the staff do the worrying.......you are better off at BRI where there is medical cover ALL the time. Good luck Ian......and it might just be as well to shave your bits.....if they DO operate then someone will come along and want to do that first.
|
Re: EEEk!!
I would not worry about shaving you leave your modisty at the door when you go into hospital but i must admit i did have a shave before i went for the Angiogram them lovery gowns with that nice big opening at the back but i did get some paper knickers to wear as well hehe i hope it all works out for you see you soon
|
Re: EEEk!!
Mick I wasn't thinking modesty.....I was thinking duff blades......they certainly were when I worked in the NHS......and with financial constraints I can't believe they will have improved.

<fx:Ian hurries off to stick a new blade in his shaver>
Thanks for teh tip! |
Re: EEEk!!
You are very welcome.....it pays to be prepared.
|
Re: EEEk!!
I know when I did the pre-op assessment clinics I used to advise women to do their own shaves.....or get their partner to do it.......then we just used to check them over.....not many folk thought to bring their own razors with them. Oh, perhaps I should say.....I worked on the Gynae Ward...so NO men!
|
Re: EEEk!!
Just called,
"I'm off to see the surgeon, the wonderful surgeon of BRI" |
Re: EEEk!!
Good luck with the bed, the op and the recovery. Hope all goes well.
|
Re: EEEk!!
Poor Ian...................Hope it all goes well mate. You will probably be away for about 3 days now.
God appendix are such a pain!!! and quite useless at the same time. I think they should save us the hastle and get rid of them at birth lol. |

Re: EEEk!!
Heard on the grapevine via a client of Entwisi Storage Ltd.;)
Hope you are soon well.:) |
Re: EEEk!!
I think there are more people without their appendix than there are with.
I had my appendix out when I was 13 years old. The only good thing about it was I got 6 weeks off school. |
Re: EEEk!!
Well, they called him in this afternoon, when i rang earlier they said they had sent some blood to be tested and were waiting for the doctor to do his rounds.
But as usual with the NHS there's still no bed on the mens ward so he's stuck in a bay with two women, the nurse couldn't get the blood sample so decided to leave it for the doctor to do, who might I had isn't doing his rounds till later tonight. In the meantime whilst waiting for them to pull their finger out it could burst, and I wouldnt wish that on anyone. When I had mine out 5 yr ago it took them a week to decide what it was, Ended up having a big operation as it had disintegrated . The only good thing that came of it was i got 3 month off work with full pay. |
Re: EEEk!!
Hopefully they will be quick............... nothing like being stuck in hospital when nothing is being done!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!:D |
Re: EEEk!!
I bet he's lost without his laptop, he'll have withdrawl symptoms by the time he gets home.

Re: EEEk!!
ouch... had mine out few years ago, ended up having to stay in as my cross-dresser of a friend turned up to visit me as Petra insted of Peter, I was howling laughing the whole of visiting time..........was too sore to go home the day after and had to stay an extra couple of days as I strained myself laughing! So its not always the best cure...but I have a damn good memory of acute appendicitis!!!
Good luck hope your feel better real soon.........oh yum Chicken soup!!:eat: |

No you didn’t, and yes you are entitled to defend yourself, in the same way Less is entitled to. But perhaps with should keep it in just the one thread. Bloody hell, Ian won’t know what hit him; poor bugger’s going to be in enough pain without laughing at us lot. :)

Re: EEEk!!
HOME!!!!!!!!
Sore but OK. No sign of any bed bath though :( They don't let you have the offending appendage anymore. they shifted me up to ward 18 last night and the bed was REALLy uncomfy. They were a lot more genrous with the brews though. I only got two yesterday on ward 1. I had 6 before I left today! Now I don't want any jokes, merriment or anything else that will make me laugh, Normal service I assume then :) |
Re: EEEk!!
Glad your ok and home just got to heal now eh!
|
Re: EEEk!!
Nice to have you back Ian, in well, almost one piece…you’ve missed now’t. :)
|
Re: EEEk!!
Great to have you back Ian, hope you are none the worse for your experience.. I can't believe that you got 6 brews, they must have more staff than we have if they had time to make you all of those drinks..:D
|
Re: EEEk!!
came round at 5:30 with the first one as we had someone come in and they were making him one( I was up as my bodyclock still reckons I should wake up at 5:15 ). Breakfast brought the second and it turned out the aux nurse grew up on the next street as me and recognised me, that was two more brews. half ten came with another then they came round just before lunch. as I was waiting for my lift I saw them making another one so I stayed a bit longer chatting to a bloke who had just had the third cancerous lump taken out his throat.
:) |
Re: EEEk!!
Welcome back. I hope if I am in hospital I find I know someone who will keep me in cups of tea. You lucky so and so.

Re: EEEk!!

Just one point, they never mentioned shaving, They took me down to theatre, gave me one injection (he said to relax me, next thing I'm waking up slightly lighter) Now I'm off work for a bit and likely to get bored, anyone feel like a brew, send me a PM before you pop up! |
