I will be perfectly Honest

It's Sunday, and as with every Sunday there are plenty of programmes on the box revue-ing this weeks politics.

I was watching one of these and the host Asked a question and at the end of it he said, "it won't be easy will it?",

The politician (doesn't matter about the party [blue tie]) started her reply with, "I'll be perfectly honest about this"... then went on to explain her views.

It just had me wondering, although she would never reply with the term, "I'll be perfectly dishonest about this".

How many policies are there that she would be prepared to be perfectly dishonest about?

All of them if it suited her at the time and she thought she could get away with it, and spin her way out of it if she got caught.

You mentioned the word "politician" and "honest" in the same sentence, they are a contradiction of terms are they not?

We've all heard the old one:
How can you tell when a politcian is lying?
His/her mouth's open.

Anyone who starts a sentence with "I'll be perfectly honest," "Honestly" or "I assure you" is lying their bum off....:D

Re: I will be perfectly Honest

I think the other good one is 'to tell you the truth.....'

I do avoid both those phrases (I used it in a previous post to be ironic) because it usually follows that people are lying prior to or after using the phrase.
