Wrong, as usual Garinda. The referendum was in 1975 -after our joining of the Common Market - and wording on the ballot was something like "Do you accept the renegotiated terms of the UK membership of the Common Market". Those "terms" were meaningless; the usual Wilsonian bull**** of its day.

We have never had a simple referendum on the Common Market, the question being "Do we stay in or get out"; I know where my cross would go.

I suppose then that I must have slept through it, either that, or my hormones were playing up that day and I was obsessing on my favourite lust object, who, though it may come as a surprise to many, was not Edward Heath.

I appologise most humbly. I was eight, my only excuse.

For my penance I'll wear glasses and shave all my hair off, in tribute to you.:D
