Best and worst adverts????
We watch enough TV so which adverts do we love and which do we love to hate?
I know it's a bit daft but I love the Renault Megane advert with Shakin' the ass and I hate the ones for Fairy liquid with Ainsley Harriot. Which ones make you want to switch over? |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Love the New Civic ad and hate the Currys ads, I think it's Currys, anyhow the ones with that annoying designer woman in them.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Hate that advert with the chorus doing the car noises ...... it goes on for ages! :(
Love the Walls adverts with the dog, especially the one were the dogs giving the bloke a towel snap! :D |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Those walls adverts are ace :)
I also like the dancing citroen C4 advert........ |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Yeah C4 advert is good
I like the Wicked adverts too :D Must be my sense of humour! |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
For me its the Powergen adverts. Its bad enough the Met office going on about weather without PGs tuppence worth.:(
Citrons dancing car transformer is tops in my book. :) |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Best- anything by Guiness, especially the White Horses/Surfing one, a mini masterpiece.
Worst- anything in the afternoon on Channel 4, bloody baths with doors in, and life assurance where 'no salesman will call', with the added bonus of a digital clock. |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Only one i know out of that lot is the transformer one.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Confused Dot Flaming Com http://www.miva.com/images/casestudies/confusedlogo.gif Grates on me somewhat!! |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Worst: Mint card - how bad are those?
Best: Probably the car advert with the most amazing, thumping, bassy track 'Feed Your Mind" I have tried without success to get that track. I just can't remember which car it was though. |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I hate all adverts. That's why I only ever watch the BBC. Definately worth paying the license fee for no adverts.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I am usually a flicker when the ads come on but you can't do it at other folk's houses.
Best ad for me was the HONDA components moving along to to music of Rapper's Delight.:not_ripe: Worst...the one that goes Hmmm Dannone is it actimel? it really gets under my skin. |

Re: Best and worst adverts????
My favourite of all time has got to be the Smash ads - either those or the PG Tips monkeys. Current one is probably 'Sheila's Wheels' - brilliantly corny
|

Others as above, love C4, hate Mint card ... that guy with the nose sneezing everywhere .. yuk. For some reason hate the RAC advert, guy with flying boots ... bores me. Century FM. Father has his child in carrier and he is singing along to Century .. the lip-curling look of disapproval from him to the father's singing is wonderful, makes me laugh everytime. Apart from that hate all the sofa adverts, but use these breaks to rush about putting pots in the sink, getting stuff ready for the morning, etc. |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
All those adverts for finance like Ocean Finance etc , they make my blood curdle.
Has anybody seen that advert for the new Jaguar. Thats mans voice makes me go all funny ! :) Just watch, i bet hes is about 80 years old, lol. Also love the advert for the Aldi, its comes at you like a black widow. |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Better add all loan adverts along with Ocean Finance Jimmi. They are just out to rob people not help them.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I used to love the Smash adverts and the old Carling Black Label ones.
The dancing car advert is brilliant and the Sheila's Wheels ads are catchy (although not one of those lasses has their hands on the steering wheel in the driving scene). No wonder they need insurance:D Most adverts bug me Cillit Bang bugs me....... The stuff will strip all of the grease and muck from your oven, bath and a penny, but the actors don't use gloves. Any advert for cleaning products makes me shudder. I also hate the adverts for various foods which try to make them sound more scientific by using made up words 'bifidus digestivum' my @rse..... People who actually eat and drink these things are normally bowel obsessed and bring the problems on themselves... Scientific sounding beauty products also get on my pip....... There's nothing short of a face and body transplant going to sort out my fine lines....:D |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Car Insurance ad's have some of the worst on TV - just hearing "Calm Down, It's only a commercial" makes my blood boil! Also, the ones with the dog named Lucky - they should either control the dog or have it put down!
Can't think of any really goods one at the moment - even when good ones come along they over use them & they turn annoying anyway. |

the amount of adverts that offer you loans amazes me,they make it apear that they will cure all your problems when all they realy want ,is for you to get in debt so deep that they can take your house off you..i feel that Carol Vorderman ought to know better...
.................................................. ............. Every time i hear the new halifax advert i think of Ray Stevens who sung (The Streak) singing Minnie the Moocher .............we had some good laughs with that years ago...:) :) |

The 1st Tango ones were the best for me, remember the one that got banned? "you've been tango'd" when the fat orange guy slapped someones head with both hands, kids were doing it and causing burst hear drums so they banned it, the look on the guys face after was amazing!

I dont like adverts much but the worst ones are.
The Insurance ones. The best were:- Smash. PG tips. Sheila's wheels. Baby Ads. |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I can't stand all the finance ads, Norton, credit cards etc agree with the guy about Sheila's Wheels. and yes the dancing Citreon . The Yellow pages is ok with yer man asking for Dog trainers
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
don't tend to watch many ads as I find I usually jump up and start doing something before I forget!!!!!! I think thats why I tend to avoid the BBC

Decided to add the new Velvet toilet roll one to the list. It is bonkers trying to have a 2 year old convince us that 3 ply toilet roll is good for the bum.

The new diet Irn Bru advert.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Best: (all time) Either...
Hamlet cigars with Gregor Fisher in a photo booth (it's happened to all of us) Smash with the martians R. Whites Lemonade and... a classic naff ad... Shake 'n' Vac Best: Current (Think it was an ad for a TV) it shows shots of the streets of San Franscisco with lots and lots of coloured balls bouncing down the street - I love the soundtrack to that. The newest 'nobbys crisps' ad - where Noddy Holder is wearing a pair of huge platforms (so he's standing about 5' off the ground) and is holding a bag of crisps and there are 3 blokes that can't reach them (saw that at the weekend and it made me laff) (there must be more, just can't think of any) Worst: Current Anything to do with skincare, shampoo, hair products (male or female) or anything advertising financial assistance or insurance. |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
... oh yes, and ANY advert which includes the words "clinically proven"!!!!
HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT! |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
 that GREAT big chap ,that says ,,,,HAVE YOU BEEN HURT OR INJURED....he scares the pants off me,,i dont trust him at all...
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I like the ones with the greyhound racing were the chap rides around on the rabbit. And the one with the chap on the wrecking ball. Both same company cant remember the product.:)
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
i loved the mushy pea advert: hello little pea remember the good ole days back in the pod?
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Worst? All of the insurance, loans, credit cards and "no win, no fee" things with boring people and boring settings just waffling on at you. How unimaginative they all are. And that awful car with the huge bum.
Favourites? Can't think of one off hand so they obviously don't impress me much. :D |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I can't think of many ad's I like at the moment,
but this site:- http://www.complete****e.com/davethewave-adverts/ Has a few old goodies, such as the guinness twins and carling black label. Just to let you know you will have to copy and paste the url then replace the stars with the letters s,h,i,t |

Re: Best and worst adverts????
The voodoo Tenants Lager is growing on me.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I have to say I have caught a few ads recently (been poorly sick :( ). Love the velvet toilet roll advert with the small child in a suit, it just makes me laugh every time:D. Hate the sheilas wheels, it really does grind on my nerves:mad:.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Thought of another one yesterday that is from a while back.
The Yorkie ad where this girl goes into the newsagents dressed as a bloke and tries to buy a Yorkie and the guy behind the counter asks her questions such as explaining the offside rule to verify she's really a bloke before he will sell her one. Just made me smile each time I saw it :D |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I like the one with the young boys taking the adult roles (is it Citroen?). The latest one, with the new neighbour showing off his car, always makes me laugh - especially the muttered line, "New house, new car, somebody's doin' all right", with a knowing nod.
Can't stand the one where mother says to daughter "I'm feeling a little bloated today", (Actimel?). I mean, she'd say, "Ooh, I've got terrible wind", while her daughter backed away, wouldn't she? ;) |

i love that one too..it always makes me laugh:engsmil: |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Everytime I see an ad I love or hate I feel the urge to come on here and post about it!!!
It may have already been mentioned (no apologies) but I hate the AA loans ad with 'Bev n Kev'. It has me reaching for the remote to mute it as soon as I hear it. I like the IBM ads. The most recent favourite is when a truck travelling across America is lost and is stopped by a help desk in the middle of the road. "Who told you we were lost"! "the boxes" "maybe the boxes should drive"! My current favourite has to be the Budwiser ad where a team of Americans are trying to learn football - and it ends with the coach going through the offside rule with the team "Does anyone not understand?" Everyone in the room puts their hand up "You do the football, we'll do the beer" :-) |
Re: Best and worst adverts????

The original Bev is in the hit C4 programme Peep Show. The ad that always makes me laugh is for the children's cough syrup Tixie Lix. It just makes me thinbk of someone being licked by a pixie for some reason. 'Can I have a bottle of Pixie Licks please? Cough.' |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
The ultimate worst is Sheila's pigging wheels gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr the worst is when the kids sing along to it - the worst still was being in a chatroom & them typing the song there mmmmm no lifers lmao
2nd being annoying accident claim ads gggggrrrrrrr bunch of cheesy porkie piers. 3rd credit/loan ads for same reason as 2nd!! Bring back do the shake n vac ad all is forgiven lmao:D |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
The one i like are the currys [??] 50p thats become a standard joke in our house to say it like the boy does when somethings 50p.

I love the Ben Afleck advert for the new Click deodorant. Very funny.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
I dislike just about all of them because far too many make men look like fools when we obviously are not, well not all of us.
The rest con women into believing that if they use that product they will look like the bird advertising it. Come on ladies. Get real! However there a few that are masterpieces in their own right. The Guinness Rhythm Of Life ad for one. |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Another for the 'love to hate' list
Felix catfood with that stupid animated black and white cat (actually any cat food ads, but this is the worst). |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Liked the "Howard from the Halifax" ads and HATED the 2008 Xmas Tesco Advert with Des'O'Connor.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
and heres me thinking you and Des O'Conner shared the same pond scum gene pool
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Another advert which bugged me was "Can't touch this" 2008 Xmas Argos Advert.
The advert which I like was the "It's like a Golf" VW Advert. |

How about " A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat, a finger of fudge is just enough until it's time to eat, they're full of Cadbury goodness but very small and neat, a finger of fudge is just enough to give your kid's a treat" unforgettable. Bet you'll all remember that one too and keep singing it. Jimmy Saville telling us all to "Clunk,Click, every trip!" Cream cakes -naughty but nice... Another dairy one from the 70's is "Watch out ,watch out, watch out, watch out there's a Humphrey about" Lots of stripey red and white straws stealing kids milk! Don't see many recent British adds -but i can't stand the Direct Line insurance ones... |
Re: Best and worst adverts????

Milk Tray - YouTube This one brings back a few memories! |

Remember those "It's easy at Carcraft" adverts?,
They REALLY annoyed me. Another of my fav ads were "Something Good" Halifax ad from Thomas from Leeds |
Re: Best and worst adverts????
Most of these ads I have never seen of course. But here are a couple of ads, not from the tv, that really annoy me. A service station a couple of klicks north of here is advertising "Frozen Ice" for sale. An Ultramar gas station is advertising that on every thursday premium gasoline will be sold at -3 cents a litre. I don't know if they are the worst; but publicly displayed stupidity really bugs me.
|
Re: Best and worst adverts????
