Statements such as, the boy was so traumatised that he is frightened of going on holiday again, holiday was totally ruined, and words like trauma, stress and abuse, he is now quiet and withdrawn and suffering a complete personality change only proved to send me into more fits of laughter. Seemingly the tape was only over his mouth for a brief moment. Will never know the truth here, but feel was done with the consent of the child, and in the spirit of the moment. Of course, the report was accompanied by mother and child looking down in the mouth.

I love children, and would not like to see them hurt or humiliated in any way, however, when they finally get their free holiday out of Thompson, he won't be fit to go will he ?

Is it me ? Should I be appalled by this incident ?

For those of you that are joining this thread a bit late this is how it first began!

The report I read said that the child was chattering and wouldn't shut up. My guess is he was being a nuisance while the reps were trying to organize things for the children so, no doubt with good humour, they taped his mouth up for a minute.

So what happens next? Child, who is probably never told to be quiet by his parents (haven't we all met 'em?) tells them what the awful people did to him. Mummy and daddy are appalled that someone dared to shut their precious son up and, hey, we could make money out of this, compensation yeah!

Sorry I don't buy the "bullying" aspect and, twenty years ago, neither would anybody else.

it's not normal behaviour to use tape to shut a child up, not down here anyway. It's bullying, although I wouldn't call it abuse.

Agree with that. Nowadays to sneeze around a child could get you in trouble. :(

Well, Spuggie, by the size of this young man think they may have tried that one already.
