The washing machine test...

After extensive testing I can now report the following

Credit cards, £5 notes and tissues do not survive the hot wash cycle. My Accrington Stanley membership card surprisingly does. It was a little bent out of shape but essentially fine.

Has anyone else tested any other items in this way?

Watches, pens, bank card, pocket orginiser and mobile phone. Moral being dont start a washing when full of drink or with a thunderous hangover. Watch was ok even went through the drier ok. Rest well lets say they didnt survive. :(

I must use a cooler setting than you Gayle, as I've had a few fivers survive a wash - it's a nice surprise when you open the washing machine & money falls out! My fella also likes to give his door key a good wash every now & then!

The most destructive thing to washing washings is bra wires. For some reason all washing machines have at least 1 bra wire inside them. The strange thing about all this is that you dont see that many lopsided women walking around.

cats survive pretty well in a tumble dryer but havnt tested a washing machine as of yet

and before anyone rushes off to the R.S.P.C.A the dryer was on cool heat and it was the 80's so the big fluffy hair was in fashion

we did it a favour :)

I once put my uniform on a hot wash with fob watch still attached......it was a timex......and it survived! I think it died some 4 yrs later of old age. It was only cheap and it never lost a minute.

Next weeks column will start, 'Shock. Horror. I gained ten Rindy pounds.'

The man that printed them promised me that the Queen is non-biological.

I once washed my bank card and my signature washed off. I rang the bank to tell them and the woman said just sign it again.
Went shopping a few days later and what a polava in one shop. She thought i had forged the signature, luckily enough i had other signed items on me. I rang the bank and played hell and demanded a new card.

Oooops, I got home and threw my jeans in the wash basket. I've just gone and rescued the money before it headed into the washing machine - thank you for the reminder.

Someting else that doesn't last on a hot wash is MICROPORE tape!!!!!

That made a sticky mess in my patch pockets on my uniform but thankfully a good rub down with nail varnish remover has cleaned that up lol
