I'm worth £20,000
In a thread earlier on there was a personalised number plate (a rude one).
Anyway, G4YLE is worth quite a few bob - more than I could afford. If you had the choice which car reg would you have - bear in mind proper car reg conventions! |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
It was not rude Gayle.
This is my favourite one, and yes that is a number 1 http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/a...g?d=1141467908 |

Better to be innocent Gayle.

Re: I'm worth £20,000
Yeah, I really shouldn't question things that Chav writes, should I?

Re: I'm worth £20,000
My choice would be "ERN1E" I found out it was registered to a Volkswagen 1303 in Peterborough but that was in 1975, its probably been snapped up by now.
|
Re: I'm worth £20,000
I'd have Joe 90
|
Re: I'm worth £20,000
DRM QN1
Chav not me.:) |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
OK, Gayle, can you add a poll to see who already has a private plate?
I have my name on my car. Ultimate I would love ENT1 or ENT1E as it is I have a plate that ends 1AN E which I use creative spacing on. Julie has a private plate as well |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
I saw my perfect number plate the other week - AMV 60. It was on an Aston Martin in the showroom in Park Lane. If only the lottery had come up, I could have had the number plate with the car thrown in - sadly, it didn't. And without the lottery win, I couldn't scrape enough together to pay the £109,900 they wanted. Tragic, isn't it. (AMV - Angela Mary Veronica. As for the 60 - don't ask!)

Re: I'm worth £20,000
I couldn't give a monkey's what my reg number is. It's just a number stuck on the front and back of my cars.
|
Re: I'm worth £20,000
Mercedes Benz in Germany wanted to buy MB 1 and they were
authorised to offer the buyer up to £ 1,000,000.00 yes £ 1 miilion pounds. They approached the owner who turned it down. At his age what did Max Bygraves need another £ 1 Million. The snooker pro Willie Thorne has A 147 PRO on his Bentley. |

Re: I'm worth £20,000
by the way pen15 belongs to steve parish the truck/bike racer
DVLA were not supposed to release that specific plate but a mistake was made and it was issued worth a few quid as well now |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
B 1 G AL. Sounds right to me. But who wants a personalised plate that is easier to be identified by i.e. speed cameras-boo hiss, traffic wardens-by the way, the green band is so they can hide in grass verges! etc.

Re: I'm worth £20,000
If you have a plate on retention can you get it put on in the same day if you go to DVLA in Preston?
Just took this plate off my old car and it takes up to 4 week now to get the log book back |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
My pet hate is personalised number plates, except when they are like MB 1 and classy. The ones where 4's are made to look like A's etc., are just naff, naff, naff.
Beware, people remember you too .. once had a number plate on a Sunbeam Alpine LEC 55 ... everybody knew where I was at certain times of the day. Even a policeman 14 years after giving it up asked me if I still had LEC 55 !!! Used to get stopped regularly by a policeman in the early hours of the morning, 'cause it was easy to spot ... don't think he was after giving me a ticket though. Yes, PENIS was a mistake, as pointed out, and numbers are supposed to be vetted so as not to cause offence. Personalised number plates was a great little earner for the DVLA, not sure what can be done with the new numbers though, not so easy. Entwisi .. creative spacing is illegal, and will be clamped on soon. Possibly, wouldn't say no to KAT 1E though .. think belonged to Lady Boyle at one time ? In America, can put 'owt on yer car. Might be the solution. |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
I sometimes see COM 1C, in Warrington. I believe it belongs to Jimmy Tarbuck.
|
Re: I'm worth £20,000
As you might guess, I would like JUN1E. It would have looked really good on the MR2 I had back in the eighties.
How I loved that car! |

I’m like Neil. I couldn’t give two hoots what my number plate is just as long as I can remember the number.

Re: I'm worth £20,000
I've never felt the urge to have a personalised number plate, I don't see the point of it, but each to his own. I'm like you, JB, I just need to remember what mine is.
It's funny, though, that I can still remember the reg. number of the first car my dad had after the war, bought in 1951 when I was 8. It was a Jowett Javelin, 1949 vintage, and it was KKB 75. I also remember my best friend's dad had a Humber Hawk around the same time and that was KXJ 479. I knew that because I used to go to the seaside with them at weekends and he made me and Susan learn the car number in case we ever got lost! The daft thing is, I have to ponder a bit when ever I have to say what my present car's reg. number is and I have no idea what my daughter's, which stands on the drive next to mine, is. |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
Not really my thing either, although I can understand their appeal. I do wish we could still use the silver on black 'pre 1973 style plates though, they can look great on the right car. The yellow/white ones we have now can spoil the look of a nice motor. The naffest are the ones with alternative fonts (illegal), but you still see them occasionally, especially 'brush script' or comic sans

Re: I'm worth £20,000
Just saw one at the gym tonight, think was RJK 1 ... was on this dreamy Bentley Coupe ... now that's class ... couldn't sort out which guy on the treadmill it belonged to though :(

We don't need a personalised number plate. We've got a personalised caravan.
It's a "Coachman Genius" - now despite his name on AccyWeb Busman is a coach driver so you can guess which half of the name applies to me.;) |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
Mine was white, T - bar with black leather interior. I bought her, brand new, on the first of August, 1988 but had to give her up a couple of years later as the insurance groups changed and the payments were beyond me. Poor Jennifer!
Sorry to wander. |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
Mine's an '88 T-Bar too, you can see a picture of it in photo comp 7:
http://www.accringtonweb.com/gallery...3/limit/recent hope it brings back some good memories! |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
Yes, I've seen it and recognised the model. A Spanish chap in our village has one just like it. I glare at him everytime I see him! Seriously, wonderful car, enjoy it x

Re: I'm worth £20,000
All our vans have personalised registration plates.

Re: I'm worth £20,000
It’s an age thing West Ender. I can still remember the number of my first and only motorbike.
RPL 481 - a 1952 Triumph Thunderbird (650 cc of snarling power) not that I had it in that year. My ownership came seven years later. I know I had breakfast this morning because I can see the dish in the sink but I’m blowed if I can remember which cereal it was without inspecting the miniscule remnants. Imagine my problem tomorrow when I try to remember what to have for breakfast. Did I put today’s cereal packet to the back of the stack? Aaaaarrrrggghhh! |
Re: I'm worth £20,000
I'm just waiting for the paperwork to come through for my new personalised plate. Its coming off another car so its taking a while. Nothing fancy but plenty sentimental value for me. Personnally one of my pet hates is people who move the spacing on number plates or use numbers to look like letters lo make words. It really gets on my wick! the ammount you see driving round accy isunbelievable! I think its about time police started handing out hefty fines and points for it.
