A drop more Snow

It was expected tonight but it’s nice to have a bit of snow to watch on a sleepless night. It quite heavy up over Bispham, have a look outside Granny and lets us know if you’ve got it as well. How are we doing over there in Accy, you getting any?

Re: A drop more Snow

as of 3.14 still no snow here!!! I hope it stays away too. Out on a family day out... oops think I better get off to bed then :)

Well we have 4 to 6 inches and rising here. Cars daft enough to be out and reports of snow plows of the road. Typical preperations ie none even the motorway is buried. Mind you the sledges can come out.

Just looked out the window and it's snowing now in Accy. Sky looks full but I wouldn't like to guess at how long it will last. Sorry Harwood Red hope your day isn't spoiled too much.

When Grangemouth is full of snow you know its bad. The Refinery normally keeps us snow free. Think there candles must have been out last night. :D

Heavy snow here in Bury, looks like we will be staying in after the usual walk with the dog.

Re: A drop more Snow

Usually like the snow but i am hoping it turns to rain soon. My son is away for the weekend in Blackpool and is expected home sometime later today, and my daughter is on a sleepover at her friends at the top of Ossy, so they've both to get home sometime today and i won't be driving if it continues.

Re: A drop more Snow

Oh ******!!!!! Would you just look at this stuff........ The dog has been relegated to the hearth, there's no way she's getting a walk this morning. I have to go to work at lunchtime until 9pm. I'll have to check that I have a shovel in the boot at this rate. It wouldn't be the first time I've been snowed in at Queens Park (and it's not pleasant)...

garinda 12-03-2006 09:24

Re: A drop more Snow

The snow's well and truly drifting in Ossy.

Just been for the papers, and Union Road is ungritted and only passable with care.

Lunch out has been cancelled.

It doesn't look like turning to rain just yet, and the wind is bitterly cold.

andrewb 12-03-2006 09:32

Re: A drop more Snow

Manchester road was ungritted up until about 10:15pm lol... and highway in the sky has been closed according to my grandad.

Manchester road clear now 'cause of smelly gritters ;)

Its thick & drifting here with that wind, snow deep already in places, wonder if Willows Lane is passable if the gritters haven't been out & its still coming down thick.

I have two small children pestering me at the moment - 'when will it stop?', 'can you get the sledge out?', 'can we go out and catch snowflakes on our tongues?' - this has been going on for about two hours.

Be careful Lettie, the roads are treacherous. I'd stick to the main roads.

My cat has similar enquirys! Shes sat at the window with her paws up trying to catch snow. I chucked her out back but she sprinted in lol :p

Yep the day out has been cancelled but the kids aren't too bothered cos they've gone off sledging now!!!

My 2 have just come back in after half hour cold & brought half the snow in:eek:

Re: A drop more Snow

My cat has gone and hidden somewhere. We have a cat flap and it's so funny when he needs to go out - you can see him hovering at the flap, then he flies out, shaking his paws on every step to shake the snow off as he's walking, gets his spot, wees, then comes back before you can count to ten.

Still coming down over here, it’s quite wet now with signs of turning to sleet. Anyone travelling please do so with care and good luck.

The gritters were out last night, they were going up Ormerod St at about 8.30pm. Not sure about Willows Lane because my car ain't leaving the Avenue today ;)

My car isn’t going anywhere to day either, I planted a couple of these last night along with some tins of John Smiths. Just been out to pick a couple……..wow, super chilled, absolutely beautiful although the John Smiths taste a bit Smokey…

It looks like it is getting a bit slushy now and it seems to be sleeting very finely now... how long do you reckon before it starts raining?? Although the sky looks really white and still full of snow

Listen, if I could pee stuff this good I’d make a bloody fortune. :D :D

Now then, when ever did a long drop ever freeze over, I do recall have a frozen bum from sitting on the old wooden bench seat...... :p

Just got back from the Coppice. On the top the wind is howling and drifting the snow horizontilly and it was actually quite painful. Driving conditions on the bypass, passable but unpleasant. Absolutly noone on Highams, not a soul. Have all the kids moved out of that area then?

Roy 12-03-2006 14:32

Nice one wingy, thats gonna seriously effect your tight schedule for this week!! I hope its all cleared up by the time I get to the airport tomorrow :)

Roy how much did they pay you to bring the snow over?

lettie 13-03-2006 08:07

Re: A drop more Snow

What can I say...... Yesterday's journey to work was horrendous. I spent my journey to the M65 cursing the powers that be for not sorting out the roads sufficiently in Accy. The M65 was one lane and going at about 30mph. I thought Accy was bad until I exited at Shadsworth. Haslingden road was shocking.... The main route to the hospital had not been cleared and was a pain in the neck to drive on. The hospital car park had drifts everywhere...
Coming home was better, the worst bit was still Haslingden Rd, the motorway was wet but clear, my street still had drifts here and there, but I didn't care by then, I was home...:D

WillowTheWhisp 13-03-2006 08:26

Re: A drop more Snow

The roads up here seem nice and clear this morning but the pavements are awful with the wetness having frozen overnight but now a wet layer on top of the frozen on top of the trampled snow makes a very slippery multilayered surface. :(

We got a little bit here in preston yesterday! and now its ALL gone.

Re: A drop more Snow

Well I'm now stuck at Heathrow due to 'adverse weather conditions' - a bit of snow and this country just can't cope. Wouldn't be so bad but the beer is darned expensive down here! I must add that manchester airport was fine and organized this morning, so well done to them, they managed something the southerners couldn't.

grannyclaret 13-03-2006 15:08

not a bit of snow here now... but its forecast for tonight

They are collecting the snow down south to water their gardens with. :D
Any excess will be lobbed in the nearest ressie to try and fill it up due to a shortage of rain. :D
