Packaging
Ok... Another bored woman thread... however, just got a new pair of scissors, cannot for the life of me get into the sealed polywhatever packet .. irony is need the contents to open the bloody thing !!
Daren't use me teeth, might pull out the bridge, could try my lighter, but would probably set the house on fire .. electric carving knife ? nah, finished up with stitches last time. Think will go next door and ask to borrow their scissors. Know it is all good these days, but sometimes, well ! .. took me full 10 mins to open a biscuit wrapper at work t'other day, eh and try and get into those coffee sticks in hotels these days. Think Mr. Bean would have a ball .. tee hee. |
Re: Packaging
That packaging is a pain in the neck.. How elderly arthritic people manage to open anything these days is beyond my comprehension..
Hehehe, maybe you should have just borrowed next door's scissors in the first place. It would have saved you a couple of quid..:D |
Re: Packaging
The worst packaged items have got to be childrens toys, I needed a phillips screwdriver and wire cutters to get tinky winky out of his box at christmas :idunno:

Re: Packaging
I know we all like things in secure packaging but things do go over the score. Tools required for opening packaging; stanley knife scissors screw drivers pliers wire cutters oh and patience by the tanker full. Does anyone have a reason for this?

Worst thing I ever did, although not heavily packeged you understand, was to open my carton of wine one day. You know the perforations in a circle you press down to reveal the tap underneath. Couldnt do it to save me life ! Think nails too long .. so got out the sharp knife.. yep you got it .. went through the wine bag sob, sob .. never done that one since. |
Re: Packaging
The moral of the story is to buy a bottle. Mind the cork screw though and dont drop the bottle.

Re: Packaging
I think those inaccessible blister packs are designed to stop people nicking the contents when they're hanging up in the shop.

Re: Packaging
Hi kate,
I totally agree with you. I bought a pencil from the Dollar store last week, and it took me ages to open it. For jars I usually get the nut crackers out they work a treat |

Re: Packaging
Hate to drag up an old thread, however, really need some help opening this plastic thingy that is holding the 2nd DVD of my birthday Dusty Springield album. Grrrr
1 track no problem .. 2nd one ...no opening at the back, pressed middle, 2 broken nails trying to lift top bit, hammer doesn't work ... hey, just done it !!!don't know how .. gotta' get it back soon, that'll be fun. Lot of the songs are rubbish anyway amongst the good ones she did. Phew, calmed down now. :) |
Re: Packaging
sharp knife kate, just slide it in to the opening a bit gently, just prick the plastic seal, then get your finger and tear it off.
